[theory] The 4 Provinces.

NOTE: This is just a theory I made up on my own, I know there are probably theorists out there better at this than I am but what the hell.

So, at this current moment in time, 4 Provinces are known to exist: Wynn, Gavel, Dern and Fruma. I have a theory about the exact natures of these provinces.

First off, Gavel.

Gavel is the province of Light. We know this, as there is the realm of light within it. Not only this, but the elves, who are immortal, say that the province was so much better 1000 Years ago before the Decay began. The Light Forest is most likely what remains of the truer portions of Gavel and it's light.

Next, Dern.

Dern is the province of Darkness. While relatively little is known, we know it's "A Far Off Dark Land", and that it's filled with dark magic. The Abysso Galoshes are supposedly crafted from a Dernic stone, and we know what happens when those are involved (Decaying houses, sunken cities).

Thirdly, Wynn.

Wynn is the province of corruption. The battleground between Gavel and Dern, Light and Darkness. It has a large portal to the nether, the realm of corruption, and we're told that it had the worse portion of the events that happened in Gavel. We're told in Wynn Ex. Site D that Light and Darkness form corruption, and there's been a few theories that Dern is on the other side of the abandoned mines near Nesaak and Rymek. Therefore, if Dern really is on that side, and is the province of darkness, Wynn is naturally corruption as it is the middle of these two provinces.

Lastly, Fruma.
I have two theories on Fruma, either it is a province of Magic, or a province of Normality.

We're told at the beginning that we, the human, come from Fruma. We learn "Spells" as we level up and become more powerful with elements. The theory about Fruma being a province of magic is that it gives us the capability to perform such spells as we gain power.

The theory that Fruma is a province of normality, however, comes from the fact we start at Level 1, with only one spell. Perhaps it's the fact we've spent the amount of time in Wynn and Gavel, gaining this magical "Experience" that has given us the power to cast such spells. We start at level 1 because we're not used to magic, Fruma is more a reflection of reality, where no magic exists; simply physical attacks.

 

Actually, the spells humans learned were taught by villagers when they first came to Wynn from Gavel. Also, Gavel would technically be the Magic land, cause villagers by nature are powerful mages.

 

Wynn=W/Corruption
Gavel=Greed
Fruma=Origin
Dern=Darkness

Like what jmp said above me, Gavel is more like the magical province. I think Fruma will be more of a steampunk province (well thats what I'm hoping for, I love steampunk stuff)

 

Hmm, what if the magic in Gavel is Light Magic, and the magic in Dern is Dark Magic? Light Magic has a greater instant effect, while Dark Magic is more a lasting curse type of effect?

I think when the house is DECAYING <-------- It is a tiny bit suspicious that it happens that those boots are bade from DERNIC stone. Dern = The decay?

 

Well, the problem is, if Fruma was the province of Normality, that would be quite a problem. Because there is nothing to do then. Unless some big secret is there, like the ??? quest, and the people are deceiving you.
I agree that Fruma are the origin of humans. But not normality or the land of spells.
I believe that Fruma is the Province of Mystery, Origins, etc.
We are aware of Gavel, Wynn, and Dern. But never Fruma. Maybe it is a safe haven, or so we think. I believe something is happening in Fruma, wars, conflicts, and power. It could be that, it is not what we think it is, perhaps..Wynn, Gavel, and possibly Dern's problems are allcaused by Fruma.
Then there's theories speculating Fruma's origin of name, meaning "devoutly religious". Maybe..possibly..or I don't know..this so called..darkness or "problems" are caused by Fruma? We'll find out "soon™"
(By soon, I mean from when we are all adults.)

 

No we won't find out soon™ because it goes like this: Wynn: "Now" Gavel: "Soon™" Dern/Fruma: "Later " Dern/Fruma: "Sooner or later"

 

Or maybe corkus will be steampunk!

 

Meanwhile (gonna use Dragon Cave here) Fruma is the land of Balance or Change magic. Instead of destroying or creating elements, you change them. Buffs, debuffs, weather changing, stuff like that.

But I think it should be steampunk too :P

 

Theres nothing with a plain place to go. We may never really have aa need to explore the whole thing.

Naturally you have Gavel and Wynn on point.

Some theories have been spinning around Fruma. Some of them include Fruma being the province of Religion, and one that you said, about it being more primitive and lacking magic. I don't know who came up with that one, I think it was @Rawb but I think it's really cool you came up with it on your own as well. Great minds think alike.

Dern tho... Everything you said is believed to be true, but I would caution you on labeling it as a province. We have been told it is not technically seen as a province in the lore of the story, so just keep that in mind.

Don't put yourself down so much. Like of coarse you could be wrong, but if you have evidence backing up your reasoning, then thats' all that matters

 

I mainly said this because there are people who mainly make theories (such as you), and therefore are much more skilled at the art than someone who came up with this idea while sitting around one day. I didn't want to seem like I was trying to steal the limelight of being a theorist.

The whole "Fruma is primitive" came out of a discussion in the shout box. Just to let you know it wasn't one of those "A GREAT IDEA HAS REVEALED THYSELF TO THEE IM ORDER FOR ME TO BESTOW UPON THE WORLD THY IDEA!"

 

I thought Fruma is us now and Wynn and gavel is the GREAT Adventure we go on! so in over words its all a dream :D
