SPOILER The Not Significant Cave

So I stumbled upon a huge shaft in the Underground Molten Heights while looking for Dogovi. At the top of the shaft was a large cave entrance. After a few (unsuccessful) attempts, I decided to enter the cave from the Molten Heights. On the surface, the cave could be entered with Excape/Charge/Teleport. A side "well" area allowed a direct drop down to the bottom of the shaft.

But anyways, the cave itself. I looked inside and there was nothing except for a T1 and T3 loot chest. Is there something I'm missing here? Why would they build an elaborate cave (exit and all) and only place a few emeralds inside?

Gales Tomb?????

 

Alright, I'm too lazy to describe each screenshot, the cave is located at around 1400 -1530 and the shaft is located about 100 blocks lower than that.

The cave, a convenient drop down to the bottom of the shaft, and the shaft itself. That last picture is of a poor Dogun who fell all the way down.
