Pure oxygen will kill you, and oxygen is actually quite reactive
And if I recall correctly, oxygen really likes to steal electrons from other atoms

 

1. Oxygen is a chalcogen, and is considered one of the most reactive non-metal elements. It forms oxides with other metals quite quickly, but I'm not 100% sure if Oxygen is toxic.


2. Magicians lie on a bed of spikes because there is a scientific explanation behind this. If they lie on one spike, it's basically a suicide mission.

The Formula of Physical Pressure,

Pressure=Force/Area

A bed of spikes has a very large area, thus when the magician lies on it, the force is constant, but the pressure exerted is incredibly small. Thus the magician doesn't get injured.

In contrast, the SAME force exerted on ONE spike will result in huge pressure, piercing the magicians body and make him deded.

You don't want magicians to die, don't you?



3. Rust is scientifically known as Iron(III)oxide, aka Fe2O3.xH2O .

For rusting to occur on iron, there must be water and oxygen present. Yes, there is both oxygen and water in your body, but you're not Robocop, your internal organs aren't iron, so you're safe.

2. Well, that's pretty much impossible, as the weight of the magician would just cause him to get stabbed by the spike instead of having his weight evenly distributed
3. Hydrating them and keeping you alive, rust is just erosion, you cant erode people with water it doesn't work like that.

Oxygen isnt a slow acting poison, I can bet.

I mean, what else would you breathe apart from oxygen. Even unicorns need oxygen too.

Old age and a host of other influenza can be killers too, so even if a really lucky guy lives his entire life without contracting any disease/flu/virus, old age will still kill him...eventually.
