Using a photography technique I use in real, I was able to make a star trail image of Selchar. This is the result:

I had some trouble getting the city to render properly since I had to back off so much to get a complete view, even with the render distance set to 32. Other than that, it worked pretty well.

Here's one I made of Nesaak. It isn't as cool without the water, but they're still fun to make. :P

Whoa that's so cool, how did you get the models for rendering?
Dude this is Minecraft the stars are literally squares
Also he's rendering these on a computer
How do you expect them to look as nice as real ones

I'll have to try that. Llevigar is an awesome city.
Can't argue with that :p Real stars > Minecraft stars any day!

Well, really it works the same way in Minecraft as it does in real life. In Minecraft, you take a LOT of screenshots one after another (about 200-300 works well) and then load them into a program that lets you stack images (I use Photoshop cs6). The big difference between Minecraft and real is you don't have to sit outside at night for an hour to get all the shots, lol.

I just googled star trails. And just because it is not in his power to make the stars look better, does not mean that they look good.

Wow, this is really cool. Have you tried just taking the picture, editting out the minecraft stars and instead putting in real star trails? That would be cool
