I just logged in to Wynncraft and was surprised to see less chunks than yesterday, I believe their server view distance was set to 16 chunks before and today I can only see 10 chunks (correct me if Im wrong) . Changing the server view distance means limiting the amount of chunks players can see at one time. For example if the server view distance is set to 10 chunks you can not see more than 10 chunks even if you set your view distance to a higher number. I have never seen this on Wynncraft before and the short view distance really annoys me.

What it looks like today: http://imgur.com/gallery/XYL5uSQ (It's the same thing in game)

Is this a temporary thing? Is it only for me? Have they changed the server view distance to reduce lag? You know less chunks loaded means better server performance. I know that it is a very effective way of reducing server lag but I don't think they should make their game look bad to reduce lag.

This could just be another silly mistake by me but please tell me if this happens to you.

I have no good screenshot of what it looked like before, but here is a picture of a world where the view distance is set to a higher number: http://imgur.com/gallery/3LXMOR7/new

I have mine on 8 chunks (normal) and it renders further than that ^^
just your MC going nuts, maybe MC didnt render that distance because you are in the air, even though not very high, still could be the reason.

Yes it renders higher than 8 chunks but still not 12 chunks (10 chunks I believe). I tried in a lot of different places in game it's not because i was in the air, that was just so you could get a good look of it. Maybe it's my mc going nuts xD

I have my render distance on 12 chunks and I tried changing to 32 chunks, seems like I have the same problem as @Wozab, if you could call it a problem. It could be:

I play on 32 chunks but I guess it makes no difference.

Owait nevermind, I went onto another server and tested, Same problem there. I guess your Minecraft isn't the only one that is going nuts, Wozab.

Edit: nevermind, did a small mistake, eh

If I try to load any more than 8, my graphics card starts corrupting the data and glitching out hardcore. It displays as random bits of land from random places flicking by all around me at 10 changes/second. It's nuts xD

The default render distance for a server is 10.
And usually no servers change it.
You can walk into one direction, load the chunks, Minecraft will remember them if you have your distance to 32 for example, and keep them rendered, but the server basically unloaded them already :)
Look up how server chunks work please.
Dont like if false info gets spread ^^

I know plenty of servers who set an individual view distance. It's quite a common thing. ;D

But I had the contrary feeling. I always play on 10 chunks and since Gavel's out I feel like the server view distance is higher. Strange.

Nuh uh, you're not the only one. I have my render distance at Far and I'm pretty sure my real render distance is far from being 16 chunks.

Its still the same. I know this for the fact that I was creating a lot of wiki pages and took screenshots, tried to go for 32chunk render. It renderd 10, and when I walked to the chunks and walked back to the spot I took the screenshot from, they stayed loaded, just like chunks always do in MC :l

Im very sorry if my information was false I didn't put a lot of effort into it, but Im sure I saw more than 10 chunks in each direction before today. I got my information from my server control panel, when i turn up the view distance I can see more chunks and when I set it to a lower number I see less chunks. That's basically all I know about it and that's what I wrote in the thread.

That's true I think they may have set the view distance to a higher number when they released Gavel because they talked about how the servers were going to have less lag. Maybe they changed it back? I am definitely sure I saw more chunks before this day. Have you noticed how the servers have less lag to (Almost all server are at 0% lag!).
