So. I just read an article about gaming and what it does to our brains.

I present to you fellow gamers, the reason I make threads so fast, and the reason to not stop gaming!

(Note: I am not legally responsible for any harm caused by this post. If you choose to game 24/7 and get negative side effects; thats on you)

So. Internet Gaming Disorder. What is that? It's basically the scientific name for Gaming Addiction. What does it do:

Firstly, it causes you to not want to stop gaming. You legit get addicted.

Also, your mind gets so focused on the game that you forget to eat or sleep. I will admit I have gamed until two O'clock and then at like 2:30 be like "whens lunch again?"

Or those times when you stay up late gaming, are told to sleep and you're like "I'm not tired". That's why.

So, what is our argument against the Game haters (and parents)?

Well. The University Of Medicine Of Utah and some other one with a strange name (sorry, I don't remember it) worked together to do a study.

They got 200 gamers and did brian scans.

All 200 had Internet Gaming Disorder and all 200 had overworked brain networks. This means they think faster than normal people.

They not only think faster, but they make connections faster and have better coordination.

So take me for example. I am pretty sure I have this. And note how many times I claim to have a "hyperactive mind". This is why I can spit threads out so fast and take a lot of seemingly unrelated info and turn it into a theory.

So next time someone says Gaming is bad for you, tell them about your overworking brain network!

    ----------Edit----------

One thing I forgot to mention:

Scientists don't know if the games cause the brains to wire this way, or if the brains are already wired that and and those types of brains are just more attracted to the games

    Brian scans sound fun.
"They got 200 gamers and did brian scans.
    "

EDIT: Games that make you think will burn more calories than exercising. Well, that's what I heard.

Sadly, I don't believe that. But if it is true that would be great!

    Source?
Let's say the fact that they were heavy gamers was the thing that effected their brain and not the other way around, being a heavy gamer is highly time consuming, is it worth the reward?

I think it really depends on your lifestyle. If you live like a solitary lifestyle where you only go out for school and buying stuff and food and all that jazz, it is something you can do in your spare time. (Yes, I am a gamer and a bookworm)

However, if you were, say, going on trips all the time, being a heavy gamer is not essentially the best idea. It can ruin the whole experience, especially if on a vacation, because it ruins the "authentic" feeling. It also minimizes time you spend socializing with people and all that jazz.

I mean personally, I do gaming because my family refuses to lend me money to buy more books so I can read them. Oh, and also because it's like a stress reliever. For me, nothing is better than coming home from school, grabbing a jug of ice cold water from the refrigerator, and doing some gaming.

This is a really awesome excuse to tell my mom. But seriously, I dont think gaming is the cause behind forgetting about sleep etc. Thats mainly because your brains stimulated / or how you put it, over worked because of the screen.

In the end gaming can have negative effects in the sense of being less social, not going out side. Lack of Vitamin D can have a large effect on your mood. Over time if you lack enough you can be driven closer to the likely hood of being depressed. And being less social will be percieved as loneliness which can make you even more depressed.

Even though these things are considered by most people an "easy fix" they arent... Being used to overworking your brain can cause a problem which is similar to ADHD(maybe causes it I don't know) meaning when you arent entertained by something you will move around a lot, not be able to focus and your mind will wonder. -

Gaming isnt just addictive, its an escape from reality which we all need from time to time. But of course you get sucked in which in essence makes you even more depressed in reality. Thats why having a balance in life is extremely important. Of course im a large hypocrite in that area xD. Thats why lately ive been trying to find that balance.

Gaming is also responsible for a lot of bad health conditions like 2D vision and carpel tunnel syndrome, its ok to be a gamer but don't go overboard with it.
