Hangry


The sun peaks from the mountains, reflecting on a crystal lake

Light overcomes darkness, the dawn at last break

I inhale the misty air- look! A bird chirps from there

A nest woven gently, with upmost care

I pass by a path, breaking light glides through tree

And soars on my fingertips, so my spirit frees

I frolic through soft grassy hills, fresh with morning dew

But tripped on a pebble, my happiness withdrew

I feel a sensation boiling under my soles,

Reaching my face, it wins all control

The feeling is craving, senseless it grew

It slowly overwhelms me, nothing I can do

In reckless move, I feel swarming emotion inside

My feeble body cannot contain, I find myself abide

This mindless pebble, quenching my ego to dust

My stomach greatly needs for what it lusts

Through my delusion, I at last conspire

I’m hungry and angry, like a grotesque fire

Quick I must reach far, from this dreamland of haze

Until it’s a burning forest to gaze

I beg myself to wake, escape form birds and flowers

To the nearest Burger King, a big whopper I’ll devour

As I journey through endless void that consumes,

I hope for the yellow M, with big enough room

My desperation grow stronger, weak in my knees,

Until my findings have discovered Angus burgers with cheese

First bite taken, but what have I done?

I feel so large, a slug I cannot outrun

Now each bite wants even more

I cannot stop myself, my insides having a world war

I resent the pebble who to me it brought this upon,

If only I could move, much less run marathons

I return to my food, a gravestone as such

I feel myself fading, the Happy Meal’s so much

I realize- I realize that I’m stuck in my seat unmoving

Child obesity, type 2diabetes, heart disease, gallstones, liver disease, body mass index and cancer all blooming

In my last moments, I think of the pebble

Fighting for years, an uttermost rebel

As I perceive a dark tunnel, fading I am

I hear the ring of alarms, a familiar jam

Ringing.

Ringing.

Consciousness hits me

I’m back in my bed

I’ve escaped the nightmare

But most importantly

I’m sort of hungry

Suggestions:
Line 3: Transition to bird is awkward, all of a sudden look and the tone is different (i guess that fits the word)
Line 7: frolic for some reason doesnt seem fitting, dance?
Line This mindless pebble, quenching my ego to dust: Change ego to thoughts?
