Wynntheory - Cracking Selchar

Why hello hello! Today me and gudidi/Houston are making a wynn theory all about Selchar. This theory is divided in two different parts. For gudidi's part just scroll down a bit.

On this quest we learn about an ancient civilization brought down underwater by the mages to
protect and hide the boots.
-Sister Cities
On this quest we learn that the Detlas hourglass tower was based on Selchar's, the city located
on the centre of the Wynn sea.
-Craftmas Chaos
When you travel 40 years back in time you can see Selchar still under construction

So we know that Selchar was only built ~40 years ago, which would make sense considering us the
humans only travelled to the sea recently. Which is why it took us so long to reach the Gavel Province.
So it would be only logical to assume Selchar was built after Detlas. But in "Sister Cities" (Quest)
it is stated that the Detlas hourglass tower is based on Selchar's.

Theory #1
Let's back up a little. When the villagers came to our province they had to cross the sea. Let's
assume that Selchar was already built, the villagers could have seen the city where they took a
blueprint of the hourglass tower to build it in Detlas, but did not tell the humans about it. But how
could Selchar have been built before the villagers came to Wynn if the humans hadn't explored the sea
yet?
Well the villagers could have built the city as a shelter (Selchar kind of sounds like shelter hu?) some
went to the actual province, while others stayed behind on the newly built city to help take care of it.
But I believe they would require our (the human's) help to build it.

Theory #2
Selchar *was* built after Detlas, precisely when we the humans ventured to the sea. But the hourglass
tower in Detlas was only built after the construction of Selchar

Alright, hi, yes, this is kind of a follow up to Black Sun's thread where I talk about Selchar, the lost civilization of Sarnfic and the cultists in the Craftmas Chaos quest.
So let's start with Sarnfic and it's relationship with Selchar. I like to imagine that Sarnfic and Selchar were once the same city, evidenced by how close the underwater city of Sarnfic is to Selchar when you explore the city in the Beneath the Depths quest; and when the Mage Council brought Sarnfic down Selchar was the only part of it that remained above ground. An easy way to see just how close to Selchar Sarnfic is, when you go into the secret dragon egg chamber in the Sarnfic ruins, the game says that you are inside Selchar. I will bring this up later on in the thread.

Now let's talk about the Craftmas Chaos quest, in this quest you go back in time to when Selchar was still being built and when you go talk to little Tom, he says that he saw some cultists heading down into a cave under Selchar, which leads to a place Tom's father calls "The Heart of Selchar". When you go down through the cave you find a Dark Relic which was being used by the cultists, so, what if the cultists used the Dragon Egg, which is RIGHT under Selchar to make the Dark Relic? Maybe the cultists went into the caves under Selchar because they thought that maybe they could use the Egg and it's magical properties to make a Dark Relic, maybe they also wanted to try to find a tunnel under Selchar that lead into the Sarnfic ruins to try and get the Abysso Galoshes, which have dark magical properties. And yes, this is a bit far fetched, but it is possible!
And now you ask:
But Houston! Or Gudidi! Or whatever you're called now! How is Selchar still under construction during Craftmas Chaos if Sarnfic isn't there?
And to that, dear reader, I say this:
It's one of two things,
1: When the Mages brough Sarnfic down it probably caused some big waves, just saying, so maybe it destroyed a bit of Selchar in the process, and that's why we see some buildings under construction during Craftmas Chaos.
2: It's a god damned plot hole, the devs didn't think about it when they were making the Craftmas Chaos quest!
I guess I'll be leaving it here, I've gone on a rant for too long, also, Sun wanted me to finish off this thread with me dropping the mic so uh... here it goes... I... guess?

I think Detlas is one of the newer cities in the province of Wynn.
Why?
Because it's the main hub of Wynn, it's placed there to be the center of the traders. The reason it was built was because it would be used as a trading town. And where's the perfect spot for a trading town? The center of the province!

but anyhow, nice theory, both of you.

 

Sarnfic was destroyed due to the boots being there, which, according to their description, are from Dernal materials. I would also say Sarnfic is a far older city than Detals/Selcher, as the architecture of Sarnfic looks more primitive than either city. I would say, however, refugees from Sarnfic could have been the ones to build Selchar, as it is possible, the pirates who brought the boots to Selchar, may have also brought the egg that was planted in Alive Island, now Dead Island (as the egg spawns Dern's Minions). It's also a possibility that as Selchar was being built, they went for help from the main land, and Nemract and Detals were helping both, as Nemract may have been under undead siege at the same time, and Ozoth may have just destroyed Detlas Outskirts [a dwarf claims that Ozoth went to Wynn and destroyed a city](tho how the fire would still be burning, idk).
IDK if this helps with anything, just things that came to mind after reading this.
