So somebody posted a thread claiming that there needed to be more renders. So true!
So I got Blender from Steam and I started watching basic guides on how to model. No sweat, no problem.
But when I search a good tutorial on how to make a minecraft character rig... I just explode from all the different ways of doing it.... Most of the time they just offer a downloadable rig, but I want to make my own one... So I'm asking a kind person to help me out and make a easy to understand, good tutorial!

    Minecraft:
you didn't want to ask that on my guide, eh, but i'll help you out. brb

I haven't done any minecraft character rigs yet, still it should be easy enough to understand,
    start with a cube
    [IMG]

then it would be great if you get a reference picture of your character
    something like this: [IMG]
put this image on your desktop and add it as a background image in Blender
    [IMG]

now model that with the reference picture, press '3' and '5' on your numberpad and determine if 3 is the side view or the front view, press '1' to change to the front/side view (you will need both)
and also model it with the correct sizes to not get confused
you should end up with something like this
    [IMG]

making a texture is harder though, but start off by cutting the head,
right click the head and go into the edit mode by pressing TAB
then with every area selected (pressing A until everything is orange)
    subdivide this head 3 times
    [IMG]

now right click the body and make 3 cuts, this is how you do that:
right click the body, go into edit mode (TAB) and press CTRL + R
for the vertical selection you will need one, left click once, press 0 on your keyboard and left click again,
for the horizontal selection cut that into 2 pieces by pressing CTRL + R again, scroll with your mouse wheel for one time, then left click, press 0 on your keyboard and finally left click
and finally select every area (A-button) and subdivide them 2 times.

the legs and arms are equally big, cut each one of them like the following:
with one arm/ a leg selected and in edit mode: cut the horizontal selection twice (CTRL + R => scroll up one time and left click), then press 0 on your keyboard and left click again.
    Subdivide every area 2 times.

    Minecraft:
    applying a texture:
download your skin, i'm using this example:
[IMG] EDIT: for gods sake, please use a skin that will help you finding each area, it's going to be a hell if you want to texture your model, trust me, use a skin that has many color variations that help you staying on track, there are alot of rotations you will have to make
select the head, go into the materials panel and click on "Use nodes"
change the color by pressing the dot (the field next to the color) and click on "image texture" and add your skin
change the interpolation from linear to closet and use UV as the vector
with the head in your scene selected and in edit mode with every area selected:
compare your model in the texture view with the UV/Image editor and select and unwrap (U on your keyboard -> Unwrap) every face you are applying to the head (you may have to rotate some faces by 180°)
do the same with every other body part. you can do that very roughly and if there is a mistake with the texture, rotate the faces again or change their size, location etc. ask me if you need help

tip: use mirror modifiers so you can just texture one leg and one arm
