I have heard multiple times that selling a scroll for more than the merchant sells it for is considered a scam. I disagree with this. I believe that if you sell a SCROLL for more than a merchant sells it for, it should not be considered a scam.

People who purchase scrolls from players need to travel to the city where the scroll is sold for whatever their reason may be. Therefore, travelling to where the scroll is sold by a merchant to purchase one defeats the purpose of fast-travelling there.

If you are purchasing a scroll from a player, it is for convenience. The player should therefore be able to charge whatever he wishes for the scroll, because the player who wants to purchase it has the option of disregarding the convienience and travelling to the city manually, without the use of fast-travel.

I don't believe that you are scamming if you charge somebody in Almuj 10 EB for your last Troms scroll, because the person could do without the scroll and walk there if the price is too steep for them.

What you believe holds no sway in this situation. It is good you are voicing your opinion, but scamming is something the owners have made clear is not tolerated, even in the slightest form. You hold a position that will not be accepted (in the foreseeable future) as a change to our rules.

I'm not supporting scamming, I'm saying that SCROLLS should not count as items that cannot be sold for more than the merchant price.

Let me rewrite what your trying to say while changing it up a bit my own way.
    OK.

Basically, you don't have to sell them the scroll, when you might need it, and they have an option to go there on foot/horse/riding/airship. Also, you need to give a good, legit reason why your selling it for more.

I have had some other issues resulting around this as well. I was selling bear masks in Detlas for 32 emeralds just for fun, (like 12 emeralds profit) and I was told it was scamming. If people didn't want to buy the bear masks for that price then they could walk there themselves. Fair deal. I think that "scamming" should be rethought in current day Wynn as a lot has changed since rules have been set in place.

I agree, but this thread only concerns scrolls.

I fully understand you talking about scrolls but I think this issue is a lot bigger. The rules around Scrolls and Other items are similar. You could travel to get them for a lower price, or you could buy them where you are for a higher price.

I actually never knew selling scrolls for more then they're worth was considered scaming (nor do I really have the prices for them memorized) I always just thought selling a scroll for a bit of a high price was actually just selling 1. A scroll I might need or 2. The time it would take the buyer to go to said place/get said scroll (I mean time is money right?)

From what I understand the current system of determining what "scamming" is doesn't make sense. Selling an item at a higher price than what it usually costs to buy it is not really how scamming works. I've played and still play games with some form of economic system in them, like Wynncraft, and all I can say if you want to sell an item that normally costs say 10 currency, and your price is 20, well then good luck. As pointed out before buyers aren't forced into buying an item and can choose not to. True scamming is buying/selling an item while lying about its price is what scamming is. If a scroll costs 1 EB but you're selling it for 2 and also saying that it's 2, then that is considered real scamming. There is quite the distinct difference.

I'm pretty sure selling an item for more then its worth isn't scamming (for example, selling a depressing for an le), nor is lying about the 'value' of an item. Sure, its unethical, but its kind of the purchaser's fault for being gullible and/or not fact checking.

Also, @Flubby™ , I'm not sure if any mod/admin has clearly defined what exactly scamming is, at least officially. I may be wrong and if so, link me to the post please.

I agree. However , if you say that the depressing item is incredibly rare and is worth 5 le, that would be scamming.

I bought a Llevger scroll from my friend for double the price because I could not bother going to Gavel again after I went back to Detlas. I should totally report him and get him banned.

See what I mean? A situation like that should not result in a ban.

Well as long as it's not a completely unreasonable price.
I don't really know how to price things though....I usually just give out free stuff randomly...
But then again this is just my opinion, if you disagree and sell it for an insane price I really don't care. Let it be someone else's problem.
