The new update is out, and I've been experiencing it for quite a while now, so I wanted to give my opinion on the update.

    The resource pack:
It's really good, you can really see this RP is made for an RPG. The models look fantastic, and there are some items that don't have a texture yet (like the Mashed Insect) but aside from that, it's amazing.

    Potions:
Also really well done, but I do have a complain:
The prices for a potion change depending on the level and amount of health they heal, but the potions are designed to heal a specific portion of your health (say, 1/3th). This amount of healing doesn't change, but the price does. And yes, higher leveled mobs drop higher valued stuff, but all the money you get from grinding/quests aren't only meant for potions.

    Accesories:
Wynn now also has accesories, you can now get four items that increase your stats. Unfortunately, these items are pretty rare and barely do anything, at least they don't at a lower level. It's still good to have the, but I feel like they're a bit unneccesary.

    Elements/skill points:
I don't like the changes of the new elemental system, and here's why: to use certain items, you need to have a certain amount of skill points. As of the moment I'm writing this, I have a pretty good spear in my inventory, and it's around level 38. I can only use it at level 41 though, because as much as I have balanced my skill points, I still need more. This is really annoying me. Why would I need certain stats that I don't need to use an item? This new system encourages balancing of your skill points, so you can't play at your style unless you get items that do work with your unbalanced skill points set. Then there are the actual elements: some mobs are sensitive to a specific element, say a fire mob is weak to water, and vice versa. This means farming can be a lot more efficient, if only you could choose your elements.

    New stats:
Really cool, but again, there are some downsides: some stats aren't self-explanatory, like exploding. Does exploding do AOE damage, or more damage? And what is the difference between thorns and reflection? Other than that, it's great.

    The map:
Probably the biggest change to the server, and I've got one complain: Gavel is level 40-100. Nesaak Forest and the two jungles are level 40-60, and there are a lot of quests to do in that area. I'm expecting I now need to hop between these two provinces just to do the quests, and these places are really far away from eachother.

    Other small things:
Fall damage: I dislike it, and I know lots of other people do too.
Slower mana regen in water: I also dislike it, I know we're supposed to use boats, but the boats are still broken.
More classes at once: I was really happy when I heard we could have an (almost) infinite amount of classes. Then I became really disappointed because this 'infinite storage' is only for VIP's.

Conclusion: I like most of the update, but the thing I dislike the most is the new element system. I'm not giving my opinion on Gavel as I haven't been there yet, but I'm sure it's great!

I'm VIP and I only have seven class spots. "Infinite" seems like an exaggeration. You aren't missing much.

Exploding basically adds a small chance to explode when you attack using your BASIC ATTACK, which adds a bit more damage and does AoE damage. I think.
Thorns does damage to your enemy when it hits you with a MELEE ATTACK.
Reflecting does damage to your enemy when it hits you with a RANGED ATTACK.

Please go to Gavel. I mean seeing as this is the Gavel update that's a pretty good thing to check out if you're making a review of the update.

I agree with most of your points except for fall damage and the new item system. I think fall damage is necessary because it actually makes the game harder. It adds many new factors such as watching your step, and what route you should take.
Even though you'll certainly find items you cannot use but love to use due to skill points, there are still around a total of a whopping 1300 items in the game after the gavel update. From my experiences, it helps boost the economy and add a variety of playstyles. For example, if I find a really powerful fire wand that I do not need, I can lend it to a fire specialist I meet, for a price, and vice versa. It also makes you think about what armor or weapons you should equip based on their stats.
If you haven't realized already, wynncraft is no longer the same. It is no longer a leisurely spring breeze. It is now much more thrilling and it makes you think. It's more of a unique game now.

    1) Accessories are TOTALLY necessary (well not TOTALLY). They give a nice extra boost to your stats and health.
    2) The map? Just use tp scrolls. You can easily go anywhere from Olux to Troms in a matter of seconds.
    3) The elements. I once had the same viewpoint as you, then I read about it more and saw the good points. The system may look like it is encouraging you to balance skill points, but it is not. Let me explain:

Usually players will have a certain build. Not just a balance in all stats. Honestly, I can't think of a single reason why having a balance in all stats would be good EVEN before the Gavel update. But let's keep going:

For example, I, a lvl 62 warrior at the time of my writing has a these points: 61 str/3 dex/8 int/ 55 def/12 agi. Now each stat correlates to a certain element: earth/thun/water/fire/air. This is something you already know. My build is supposed to focus on Strength and Defense. I am supposed to be a kind of bulky and brute-y dude. My build may not be the best, but it is what I want. So you CAN choose your elements, but you need to choose your stats also. Never go balance IMO.

So know the gear I want should support earth and fire elements. This means spears that use fire and earth damage and items that generally boost defense and strength. So any armor that I can get to boost my fire/earth damage and anything that will boost my strength and defense. Certain weapons require you to be good in a certain stat in order for you to use it. I guess this could kind of be a way to control which people get which items. If it requires your defense stat to be high and the only thing you have high is intelligence, you probably shouldn't be really using it since you would need to change builds.

Now just because some mobs resist a certain element, it hasn't been enough to be noticeable at least for me. In the Olux area, every enemy there resists fire yet I specialize in fire and my only spear has been fire (until a few minutes before me writing this when I got a nice Earth/Air spear). I feel like the real thing to worry about is what element mobs use. Say for example a certain mob damages you only using thunder. Just make sure you won't be really weak to a certain element, so choose your gear wisely.

TL;DR version of point 3) would be:
Choose which stats you want to excel in > this will affect your elements > this will affect which gear you want to be getting. When it comes to gear, make sure you know what the stat requirements are, what elements they are meant for, what stats they buff and debuff.

If it sounded like I was rambling, like I was kinda all over the place, or I didn't make sense, forgive me, it's like 11:30pm and I haven't had sleep in awhile.

I totally agree on the fact that balancing is bad, but the problem is that I don't get nearly enough items for me to use. I am currently using a slow spear without elemental damage, and one that is really fast and does fire damage. That fire spear is the only spear I've got in my entire playthrough, and I'm already level 40. I do really want to excel in some stats, but if I don't get the right gear that allowes me to do that, it's impossible.

Might sound like bullcrap, but patience is all you need. :P

I still don't have the right gear, I guess it just takes awhile to adjust. I know that there are some spear you can buy at the shops and they do elemental damage too. Try checking the Nesaak/Llevigar weapon shops.

I'm a level 46 warrior, and I've gotten PLENTY of spears, if you've been rushing to just level up yeah of course your not gonna get a lot of spears. Llevigar has a fire spear that I've been using till I hit 48 for a new (quirky but good spear) thunder spear I have, yeah its a bit weird, but its a fast attack speed, lowers my thunder damage and increases my percent damage in all the other elements.

I agree on the mana regen in water. I live in Norway, so I have a pretty bad connection to the server already, but he boats glitching out makes travel on the water extremely slow and glitchy. I get to where I need to using Archers travel abilities, but the slower mana regen in water makes it a long and tedious task. Please make the mana regen faster, at least until you fix the boats.
