    So I got the spoon from the fireplace and the book says "Return the spoon to the kitchen" or something like that. I've wandered everywhere I can see to wander down there, including a room that sure as heck looks like a kitchen, but nothing happens. So where is this kitchen?

    Try going into the dining room and speaking to people- that'll lead you to the next part.

    There's nobody to talk to though.

    EDIT: I redid part of the quest and I see them now.
