Zombies Hiding In Bush Mob Is Now Infected With The Earth

While I was grinding the 24 rotten flesh needed for the Grave Digger Quest I came across this monstrosity

Well anyways i know that the leaves texture when held is the earth staff so I wonder if any of the Wynncraft Team would even consider that this mob would be INFECTED BY THE EARTH

The fact that the staff looks like a sprout makes me think that the zombie is getting controlled by the plant/staff.
Where is it getting orders from?
How can it get orders?
Or maybe......
