SPOILER Stuck On A Quest

The quest 'Potion Making' for me is bugged out.
My friend and I were doing this quest one day because we had nothing else to really do. After the Gavel update, all of our Potion of Healing I's [a necessary item needed to finish the quest] were turned into Potion of Healing 3/3. They were practically the same and I don't think it was the potions that made it not work. Anyways, my friend and I got all of the supplies needed to finish the quest (8 bat ears, 16 bone meal, and 3 potion of healing's) and traveled over to the Black Road to the Assistant to turn them in. First my friend turned them in with no problem. But when I went up to turn in my items for finishing the quest, a small chat box came up saying that I didn't have the supplies needed. What confuses me the most is how my friend, who had the same stuff as I did, finished the quest, but I couldn't.
