How To Play This Now

Gavel came out *Horray* i like everything but things got confusing like the elements and how to play and many more. i started to play a few weeks back and it was fun then Gavel came out. I am excited mostly on the new resource pack but the problem is it changed so much everything is different and it got me like... How do i play now. i watched the lifestream. It contains useful information but i don't get a thing. Please explain
