Gavel: First Impressions

Well, the update is here! I logged in and gave it a shot. Here are my first impressions.

I was excited. I was met with the character selection screen. I was heavily disappointed to see I only had 5 slots, and you had to pony up some cash to use all 10. This is worse considering 4 were already used up with my old classes, leaving me with a measily 1 slot to work with.

So, I selected my Assassin. My armor was still on. This was confusing since devs said it would have moved into my inventory or on the ground. I guess that's a good thing. ;) Everything looked good with the resource pack. The new item system was overwhelming, but that was because I didn't start a new class. I would imagine it would be a lot easier to understand if I started fresh. I really didn't want to start a new class though, considering I only had 1 slot to work with.

The server was laggy, but you really can't expect it not to be when this is happening. I'm impressed the server didn't crash.

I switched to archer, then I decided to try out my weapon. Apparently you cannot use it without identification. This is pretty cool. I liked that idea. I tried it again, and was met with a little message saying I needed 10 strength. Alright, 10 strength it is. I don't really like how there are minimum skill point requirements for items. It seems like an arbitrary limitation. I try out a couple spells. I might be missing something, but I couldn't tell a difference.

Well, that's it so far for now. I'll start fresh on Christmas, using my only slot left. Really can't wait to see the new quests and terrain. The only real disappointment I have is how 5 of the character slots are put behind a paywall. I really, really dislike this. I think everything else is going to be great, though. Big thank you to the content team for this massive update and all the stress, time and work put behind it. This update is great!

What can you expect from a server which follows the EULA so responsibly. They need some incentive for people to buy VIP, that's how servers run.

Anyways glad you're enjoying the update. I'm looking forward to trying it out too. So far looks to have surpassed my expectations significantly, so once again thanks content team :D

 

They're not arbitrary. Your element affinity determines your choice in weapons and armour.
