Video Saxophone Cover: Gavel Expansion Music Preview

So because Gavel is coming any day now and the hype train is about to depart, this is my last chance to share a saxophone cover I made for @Needlr's Gavel Expansion Music Preview with you. He made it a long time ago, and I actually made the cover a while ago too, but I was too lazy to properly edit it and upload it. But here it is now, just in time for Gavel!

it does appear to be near the Pelvis I suppose and I think everyone can enjoy a pelvic thrust from Grvphene.....

1/10 Stock Yamaha and G-Sharp

Just got the money for a new mouthpiece. Could ship it to you to help with the classical sound. Yamahas are more for Jazz. If you have the money, it's a step up, but the P. Mauriate IV is a quality classical alto, but the mouthpiece it comes with is complete trash and only works with #2 reeds

 

My saxophone is a Yanagisawa (probably worse than Yamaha), but it's fine. I play on a more open bigband mouthpiece, but I still have the original more dark sounding mouthpiece. Maybe I should have used it for this recording. The biggest factor causing my rather bad sound was probably the old and soft reed though. I really need a new reed. I'm not going for a classical sound, so I don't need a different mouthpiece, thank you.

 

Yanagisawas are actually pretty good as far as budget-altos go. The lighting made it hard to distinguish considering they have similar designs. If you where able to get that sound with a big-band mouthpiece I am also impressed.

Ps. 1/10 was a joke. It's actually very good transposing.

 

I tend to have a rather muffled sound by myself, so my sound is a little smoother even on a bigband mouthpiece. This is not a full blown jazz mouthpiece either, we play lots of vocal songs and swing stuff as well in my bigband so I don't want to be too sharp. Anyway, thanks for the compliment! I keep practicing my note hearing skills with stuff like this.

Dude. xD Your articulation sounds soooo weird. Do you like go, "Ta"?

Also at first it sounded so weird xD But then I realized I sit next to the baritone saxophones and the tenor saxophones, I don't usually hear the altos. xD

Care to do a tuba-alto saxophone duet mate?

 

I normally go "Da", but with the smaller mouthpiece it naturally sounds sharper than a tenor and baritone saxophone. To me, those sound like "Bo" when they articulate. My sound is weird for several reasons, the biggest ones are my crappy old reed and the crappy microphone, and I also mixed multiple recordings together. So yeah.
Right now I don't have time to do anything like that, but maybe in February, if you want to wait so long.
