A Scammer And How To Advoid It!

Hello everybody! I havent put much on here but thought to share something. I recently caught a scammer getting a ton of le and OP Armor (really good armor) His ign is Mike_209, beware of him!
He isnt even afraid of showing it! He even told me how to do it! (I accidently deleted the screenshots :/ )

Simply, when somebody says they died and lost all of their, and that they want free stuff from you, just say you dont have anything to give, it might be hard not to be nice. Or just try to make sure you trust them. I might still give stuff since I some times have random junk on me. But if it is higher level items, just dont do it!

I accidently deleted my evidence that Mike_209 is a scammer, sorry :/

 

but they are tricking you to do it :/ but call it what ever you want :/

This is not scamming, that's begging. Or well, begging, but not in a desperate way.

A proper definition of scamming is when a player tricks another player into a good or proper trade. Like for example, a blue mask for a blue mask seems perfectly fine. But if one of the players immediately swaps their blue mask for something else like a spectre, that would be scamming.

 

Example: "I will trade you this Pumpkin for 10 LE!" Then at the last moment, swap out the pumpkin and continue the trade; leaving the receiver hurt. Don't scam, if it makes you feel good scamming, think about the person you scammed; 99% of the time you will be exposed, 70% actually reported, 20% banned before leaving thinking you had a good day.

 

It is not begging, scamming or mooching really. More of a lying situation you have here. Lies for money.

 

Scamming could also be seen as taking advantage of a players unknowingness. Example:
"I'll sell you this Flawless Oak Spear for 16 LE, it's super rare" "Oh, it must be really good. I'll buy it!"

This is also selling things at extortionately high prices to what they normally are (e.g.: Pink Wool for 2 LE, when it's worth 12 EB).

From Merriam-Webster dictionary, a scam is: a dishonest way to make money by deceiving people. In what way is lying to obtain something by fraud not a scam? I expect to hear crickets, and apologies. Whether I do or I do not, holywaffle, I apologize for the garbage that was thrown your way, and I want to remind you to please post your screenshots either here, or in a player report, on these forums, so that the Mods can handle this person, if there is anything that they can do, based upon your screenshots.

 

I doubt someone with 16 LE would believe that, but I guess I get what your point is. :p
