    A quote from the Twitter says:
    "If everything goes to plan (they never do) we will have a test server ready at the weekend. 10-20 public players will be invited to test."
    So I think the people are testing Gavel during the weekend.
    Which means, it probably is when it is released, however it might be open beta testing.

    If I had to guess, I'd say that this is a count down for the Beta Testing, which will be this weekend, probably Saturday-Sunday, and then Gavel will be released the following weekend unless a major bug is found during the Beta.

    Anyway, it seems this creature is closely related to the Tower of Ascension Floor 2 boss, Arragaddon (however you spell it).
