Minecraft Coming To Nintendo Wii U

I bring exciting news! We’re bringing Minecraft to Nintendo Wii U!

That’s a surprise, eh?*

Anyway, now it’s 100% official. Minecraft is launching on Nintendo’s Wii U console on December 17th. It’ll cost $29:99 or equivalent, will be available to download on the eStore, and comes bundled with six of our most popular add-on packs. There’s even a Festive mash-up included just in time for the holidays.

We’ll be adding more content packs to Wii U Edition in the near future (Wa-hoo!), and updating the core game with free updates, just like our other platforms. As a quick reminder: all DLC packs are optional. You can have significant amounts of fun playing Minecraft without spending extra cash.



Minecraft: Wii U Edition will also feature off-TV play, so you can continue playing on the Gamepad when other people want to use the TV for less fun things like movies or other video games.

Am I the only one who is disappointed that Nintendo's idea of "big news" is a Minecraft port that came a few years too late?

 

I actually want a 3ds port of mc.

Gonna wait a few years till they announce that.

 

I would've prefered a 3ds port, but Wii U was still a great decision on their part.

 

I'm going to be honest, I was a tad bit disappointed to realize that the "big announcement" was going to be about a Minecraft port to the Wii U, instead of Smash news. What with the whole teaser for the "final Super Smash Bros. Direct" theme, I had high hopes for today.

If it's Minecraft news, were you expecting Steve to be in Smash?

 

Wii U news.
Eh, the Smash direct's going to be in three days, so I don't mind that much anymore.

(Also I doubt that "Steve" of all characters can find a place in Smash)

 

I'd gladly kill myself if that happens.

 

Why so negative? We could think up movesets for Steve in Smash.
Iron Sword could be his main attack.
Bow as his side-B.
And his Final Smash would be him wearing his diamond armor and wielding a diamond sword.
