Serious Discussion: Hatred And Political Correctness

Please don't make this a flamewar. It isn't my intent to ruffle anyone's feathers.
What do you all think about being "politically correct?" I, personally, think it's kind of stupid. Before you freak out and report me, hear me out. Isn't everyone everyone entitled to their opinion? If I use the term "(insert "offensive" term here)," maybe you think that's mean, but it would be my opinion. As long as you aren't being directly hurtful towards a person, I don't think you should get tons of hate for that. In other words, "haters" shouldn't get hate for their "hate." Don't fight fire with fire, right? I'm interested in your opinions on the matter.

I think political correctness should be used to a certain extent which has been already fulfilled, or at least in my country('Murica) where outright insulting a random person in public is illegal. All these PC people, now, are taking things to far to the point where they are attempting to ban holidays and skimpy costumes. People can wear and celebrate anything as long as it doesn't actively harm anyone else not involved.

A university was gonna hold a special thing since today was a day about men, similiarly how there is also a day dedicated to women, but guess what? Ya good ol' feminists pals complained and got it cancelled because it didn't include....

I wholeheartedly agree. I feel that PC has gone too far. My school and social circles are full of it. Sometimes my Sociology teacher explains us a theory and basically adds in the end, “it is wrong because it is not politically correct.”

Same to my self-righteous Geography and History teacher. People here in Brazil recently took a university admittance test, and I have heard that its essay was graded not only based on the candidate’s language skills, but on their opinion as well—whoever expressed an opinion slightly different from the expected did not pass. In light of that, my History teacher did say he could not believe that people would even have a different opinion; that they COULD NOT have a different opinion.

I often do feel that I am being indoctrinated instead of educated.

I believe that people should be able to express any opinions that they have, but that’s quite unrealistic.

Also, there’s that concept of “cultural appropriation”… and that’s just soooo wrong… Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, etc., all over the world “appropriate” culture from Europe; Latin American countries, as I know well, have much of their culture imported from USA and Europe, and no one bats an eye. But when a white person from a first world country uses elements from other peoples’ culture, it is wrong?
