Media Gavel Hype (please Read)

All of you who are complaining can leave the forums and servers for all they like. Honestly, you may have a point with your opinion but spamming the forums with complaints ain't getting you complainers anywhere. Either be patient or leave the forums.

I know it has been a long wait, but Gavel is not life. Just do something else till it comes out. All of you people who say that you are wasting your childhood waiting for Gavel are being idiots. For starters, MOST (Emphasise on most) of us are teenagers or older and secondly, you are not wasting your childhood as there are more thing to life than Minecraft. There is eating and parties and other stuff like that.

In summary, anyone who spams about Gavel losing hype going should leave Wynncraft as the community will be a lot better off without you. You by making those posts are just making people realise how long it has actually been. That in turn is making more people annoyed. STOP IT! I know I don't have a right to just stop you but seriously, stop being trolls and haters. THE CONTENT TEAM HAS LIVES AS WELL!

Now I am getting ready to be bombarded with hate comments, most of which I will purposely neglect to notice because they have no real meaning. Everyone who wishes to have a decent discussion with me about this topic is more than welcome to.

This is a message to those people essentialy. I want the forums to become a less angry place. Yes it is easy to ignore them but people end up lustening to them. It is like a war! We need to reduce spammers and haters and get more people on Grian's perspective!

All of you acting like you know what's going on behind the scenes really ticks me off you know.

You can't say "the content team should rush what they had planned" - THIS IS WHAT WE HAD PLANNED, this takes a good amount of time, its a 4000x2000 sized detailed map with about another 4000x2000 worth of off map content.

You all seem to think that an unfinished Gavel is what Wynncraft needs, just get it out now, no matter what. That's such a terrible idea you have no clue. We can't release even half a map that size that covers over 60 levels without adding any content. You act like you'd love Gavel just as much without the content and secrets and all the fine details we put in, but the truth is, if we released something half finished people would leave after release and complain about how the update was underwhelming or didn't meet expectations etc. This would make the game bomb and possibly beyond recovery as we want to install some faith and legacy to our updating capabilities. We want to get a reputation for putting out some sick updates.

you may say we bit off more than we can chew too - but truth is we bit off more than we can chew from the very beginning, 3 inexperienced people going into an mmo design of all things. But now we actually have some experience behind us, we know what we're doing and we certainly know whats best for the game.

I agree the wait is both unprecedented and extremely long.

We encounter issue after issue, especially on the dev side, imagine this, you're building a sand castle to the same height as you, but everytime you build up, the bottom crumbles beneath you. This analogy sums up the plugin side. Every time something is altered, changed or improved, something else breaks, stops working and it can often take ages to find and fix the issue. We're changing and improving so much of the game it may be unrecognisable in some aspects, the lag will be gone, the game will look so good with the resource pack, the elements, the exploration, the quests, the new items, character slots, building your character and who knows maybe we'll even fix swarms since mobs will be improved.

Soooo much, a lot of you probably didn't even consider the scale of this project and how a lot of it can't function without the rest, you can't just do one system and leave another outdated. Everything is connected. If we do one thing, we have to do all the things. If we change items that means spells, identifications damage calculations all have to be changed and updated. Game development and design isn't as generalised and easy as you make out. Gavel is much more than a province with 50+ quests.

The content team work their asses off and I don't want to see anyone telling them what to do or to work faster. It's not their fault its not out yet. The map is legitimately 95% done. We essentially need to make dungeons and we're finished on the content team side. We have 51 quests finished, of about 30 I would say feature unique and high quality content. I tried extremely hard to make sure all the content we made was enough to keep people entertained all the way to level 80. We'll be adding more content in a follow up Gavel update to address the lack of end game content.


So please, I know its a wait. But you act like we can do differently or just release it. It's just not true. We all have to wait. We all have to be patient.

And when Gavel is finally there, you won't regret it.

I just checked, as far as i noticed there is only 1 thread asking if wynncraft is losing its fanbase because of the long wait for gavel, and its a serious discussion about the long wait's effect on the fanbase aswell.

Maybe stop making such a big deal out of it.

Seriously, I don't really care about Gavel, wynncraft, or minecraft, and I'm just here for the community, but this made me a bit sick. I can't help but view it as kissing up to the content team a bit and just making a fuss.

all the "wheres gavel threads" and "anti "wheres gavel theads"" are basically pointless, but tbh all that nonsense about having somethign dangled in front of you just to have it delayed is a bit of boloney. releasing unfinished work would simply be pointless in my opinion, and you can say that it "was finished" or that they are just adding stuff but still doesnt change the fact that they want to release it all together. so basically everyone should just be calm and wait it out. waiting never hurt anyone

 

So then why are you addressing this issue when the main developer of the "expansion" has already addressed this issue?

Still looking for likes and wanting people to notice you, I see. If you want the "haters" to lay off maybe stop posting unnecessary and obvious threads (believe me, I'm only putting this a lot more friendly than I can be).

 

Eh, I think it's good that they want to release the whole package at once, I think it's just the fact that they say "Gavel is going to come out in xxxx" and then it doesn't happen, I would prefer if they didn't give us a date but rather give an announcement once they are finished with Gavel, and release it within after a week of finishing gavel, so that people have time to know Gavel is 100% coming out and can alert friends.

 

Except if they didn't give a release date then people would assume it's that awesome game that was stuck on kickstarter and never got released, so I think they kinda gave the release that to give *some* kind of reassurance (though I think that some people that are asking are joking or just new).

 

from what I understand they never really wanted to give a release date but they kept getting pressured to do so, hence the "soon". And it was more understandable for them to be more willing to give a release date when they where just going to release gavel instead of gavel AND an entirely new item system so it's not exactly there fault for the faulty release dates

I was just pointing out useless parts in this thread that you really didn't need to tell us, or even make a thread about.

in their defense putting people down is rather fun. Also I don't see where they said one negative comment dericted towards you I just see where they where discussing their side of the coin which if I assume right is one of the reasons to open a thread. Sure seems like a more suitable reason than just to tell everyone to stop making post asking questions about a new feature ( no matter how repetitive and annoying)

 

Yeah, they don't have to work on gavel, but they are making massive changes, so the community is a bit whiny, but I don't think it's really that bad at all, hence, the useless thread.

People have a right to be pissed if they're promised something and it gets delayed time and time again but you don't have a right to tell them to essentially fuck off because of that.

 

I think that's called "entitlement" and if I've learned anything in life it's that nobody is entitled to anything. seems like you should calm down a little sir and realize that gavel wouldn't even be possible without the staff putting in the hard work they have, so you most definitely are not entitled in any way to gavel. If anyone is it's the people who made/ are making it

Yes, Grian already did address this issue, and while it's nice voicing your opinion people know about this and how the content team is doing on this matter. A thread wasn't entirely necessary it could have been put on one of the existing threads complaining about Gavel not being out. Again, thank you for showing concern and support towards the content team.
To the rest of you, don't be so toxic towards him, a friendly reminder is all it takes not a detailed broken down response criticizing everything, it's what he thinks is going on with everyone.
