I've decided I would start writing lore based on Wynn's time before the corruption to furtherly add detail and depth to some of the current lore and quests in Wynncraft.

    The Uprising of Bu’al.

    The forgotten knowledge of wynn.

In approximately 374 BAV (Before Arrival of Villagers) The province of Wynn was flourishing ; the economy was stable, there was no major war, and new lands were being discovered as well. During this time, a group of explorers encountered a land of sand. They said it contained many ancient artifacts of the ancients long ago, untouched by the development of a new era, sealed in the sands of time. As more adventurers heard of these lands, many have ventured into the vast desert, and because the 1st King of Ragni has decided not to build a city within it, it was a lawless land. During this time, many factions were at war, hoping they could finally make their mark within the world, but 2 major factions had the most control over it. The 2 major factions were known as The Nether Legion, a faction that was extremely influential in the province of Wynn that desired to rule over all known land. Due to their barbaric nature, they were motivated by the pleasures of war and dominance. When news of their fruitful progress on conquering the lands of sand they called Almuj, based off of the Wynnish deity, Jumla, the embodiment of logic and reasoning.

Their leader was Bu’al, a former mage island acolyte who was banished from Mage island due to his violent behavior against the mages’ teachings. He was fascinated by the ancient artifacts found in the ancient ruins buried by the sands of time, seeing as they contained almost vast knowledge of previously forgotten magic that not even the Mage council knew about. On the other hand, another faction that called themselves the Royal Conquerors, a faction that was like the opposite of the Nether’s Legion being an organization put into place by the Prince of Troms. It was composed of Troms’ mightiest citizens that desired to bring diplomacy to Almuj, cleansing it of the constant war between factions to become a state in the province on wynn. After many bloody battles between the 2 factions, the Nether’s Legion emerged victorious, due to Bu’al’s use of long forgotten magic that his rivals knew nothing about. After Bu’al was assured that his conquest was fulfilled, he forced many slaves of the enemy factions to forge the sandstone citadel known as Almuj. Bu’al could store all his riches and spoils of war there without any contradiction from the province of Wynn. He also had the freedom to fully explore the ancient ruins of Almuj and devour the ancient scripts holding ancient magic to strengthen himself further. After a decade, Bu’al has fully explored the ruins of Almuj, he became bored of simply being a ruler. This is when his bloodlust had slowly built up to the extreme. He wanted to fight, he wanted to kill, he wanted to experience his undying pleasure of war once again. He decided to take action a year later, sending his many knights, being lead by the former members of the Nether’s Legion, to pillage the village of Ternaves, with Bu’al leading the assault. It was all too easy as the inhabitants cried in pain as they slaughtered them, but it did not even come close to releasing his bloodlust. He wanted a fight, a fight where he could test the full extent of his ancient magic.

He decided he would launch and assault on the economic powerhouse of the Wynn province, Detlas, where many people of almost every origin met to sell their treasures earned through their adventures. However, a survivor of the Pillaging of Ternaves alerted the 1st King of Ragni of his conquest, and he took action. He sent many of the former members of the Royal Conquerors to stop their assault before it began, as they knew about the Nether’s Legion’s strategies and how to counter them. There was only one problem though, they had no idea to counter Bu’al’s ancient magic, but they had little time to spare. Even if the chances were low, they had to take their chances upon stopping the Nether’s Legion from destroying Detlas, as it would be a fatal toll to the economy. Unknowing what to expect, they met on the road from Detlas to Ternaves, where Bu’al appeared before them, holding a peculiar-looking wand and said:

“You will never witness the extent of my unrivaled power.”

He then tapped the ground with his wand, creating a black shadow that killed any living thing it touched, turning the ground black. This battlefield then became known as the Black Road, a now commonly used route that many adventurers use to travel to Ternaves, not knowing the origin of its name. After that, the Nether’s Legion ruined Detlas, killing civilians and the helpless knights trying to defend, as well as robbing the banks of its liquified gold coins. This proved that Bu’al was a major force to be reckoned with, and that he must be executed before he continues to pillage more of the great cities.

The Prince of Troms decided that he had to consult the Tower of Amnesia, the home of forgotten and forbidden knowledge that could only be accessed by the royalty of Wynn, or those that completed their traditional task, to visit all the 5 major cities and collect a common souvenir, as scrolls did not exist back then. The prince requested that he find any knowledge related to any ancient Almuj magic, and he was in luck. One of the Arcanists was in possession of an ancient wand traded to them from the Royal Conquerors, that they called the Empire Builder. Its inscription read “Beware the user of unlimited imagination. To the Prince it only seemed like a normal wand, until the grand arcanist told him about how they could never let it fall into the wrong hands.

“This wand is one of signs of Jumla’s existence unto this world. From tomes I have found here I have calculated that it can produce any spell one can imagine up to 3 times, otherwise it’s just a standard wand, that can be bound unto any element. This shall surely aid you in defeating this… “Bu’al”.

The Prince of Troms then decided to confront the entire Nether’s Legion army alone, with the wand in his possession. When Bu’al came to see the laughter and commotion happening outside their camp, he laughed along.

“Are you serious!?” “It’s like he wants to kill himself!” “This is a joke! Right?”

The prince did not care what they said, as their demise was soon to come. The prince thought to himself deeply, resisting the coming anger from humiliation. He imagined the Nether’s Legion running in fear, being swallowed by the fire they resemble, as punishment for massacring his own people. Then he struggled to keep his eyes shut, to find that his thoughts became true.

The entire camp was ablaze as many of the Nether’s Legion were dead by then. Only having a select few survivors that were forced into hiding. Wynn was victorious. All of the ancient magical artifacts were then destroyed to prevent the magic from ever falling into anyone ever again. Around 362 BAV, the Wynn province has fully recovered from its onslaught, as many of the Nether’s Legion hid in the darkest corners of the known land to continue their legacy, as others decided to start factions of their own, or live a calm life within the lawful lands. The Nether’s Legion was brought to near extinction, for now.

I hope you like it! as always, constructive criticism is appreciated!
