Gavel Gratitude

(now I know some will think this is a pointless thread, and how I have alot of hate for Gavel threads, but I felt like this was necessary.)
Dear Wynncraft Build Team,
I would like to personally apologize to all of you for my hate and general un-hyped-ness towards Gavel in the past. I would also like to Thank You so much! I didn't really think about until recently, but you guys really do alot. making such a big expansion in such short(debatable) time!! plus maintaining one of the largest, and fastly growing communities/servers in minecraft! if you think about it, its awe-inspiring! Good Job to all of you! and keep up the good work!

I think they bit off more than they could chew if you know what I mean.

 

Yeah, but we still have to be somewhat supportive even when they might fail

 

I know that, and I do respect for what they have done so far in trying to make it feel complete and not just half-ass it and instead go above and beyond. Though if you took a look at their progress, it's pretty conflicting.

 

I watched Grian's livestreams, and I will admit that they still have a massive amount of work to do, but I still feel like what they have gotten done is amazing, even if it is outwayed by what they haven't done

 

It's just the stream recently that put me off. Grian didn't seem that confident about the upcoming expansion at all, and there wasn't really any new content shown. And from what I've heard from the GMs, they seem to add ideas to their workload even after the original August deadline.

 

Really, you fell that why? Honestly you could say I was the exact opposite! I felt like Grian was really excited about the new Expansion, although he wasn't confident on a release, I truly believe they are working as hard as they can to get it out "soon" (haha) with all the awesome features intact
(And it might have just been me, but alot of what he showed I hadn't seen yet)

 

I mean like, they announced some features they were planning in like April, and they still haven't worked on them (if barely) and or they have no idea how they are going to implement them (Ex. Player reset). Now I'm not trying to be rude and bash on them, I'm not blaming the GMs or Mods, I'm not being ignorant about the amount of work they do, and I'm not being impatient about it either. I could care less if it came out a week from now or a year. Though even from their twitter they are like "We have 40 plus new quests for gavel! They aren't holding up the release, so we will just add more until then!" and then we later find out, "Oh sorry guys, we can't spoil much but we just need to finish up these last of the quests and then do the storyline we promised like month ago."

So yeah, it just feels like they want it to be the best, so they keep adding features even though they are way past the deadline, and I think it might hurt more in the long run. I do agree with you that Grian was excited of course, though one thing that bothered me a bit was that he said, "At first, it will feel a bit too spread out, but don't worry, we will work on another update to add more content in the future to make it feel whole." around those lines. I feel like this contradicts the whole point of "making a full-baked pie," especially after they worked just so hard and long on this update. Now I get it they need to put some room aside for future updates, though it just sounded like it was a bit incomplete. And because how long Gavel alone has taken and how much they keep adding and revamping, I'm skeptical how long an another update would take, even if it's not the same scale as Gavel.

Yeah.... I felt like this was gonna happen sooner or later. Cause I always see you on someone thread a new person makes and make them feel bad not saying your mean but this was nice to see :D

 

Yeah yeah...like you don't need opinions from the community, and Wynn is still gonna release the same shit every update without any uniqueness. We don't want that, that's why there is thing called "Freedom of Speech".

 

GM's do they important work though. Well, compared to builders. They create Quests, we create their surroundings, they create mobs, we their surroundings.
WC would be boring without GMs.
Also, being a GM is, at least I think so, way more stressful, because you will be given deadlines, and people expect you to be able to do stuff. While as a Builder, you can avoid Requests (We have a request system with /claim and such) that you aren't good at, and let other Builders do it.

Even though they GM's did absolutely nothing in the first quarter of the creation of Gavel, they have worked their asses off after that, and they also deserve some recognition for their hard work.

There GM their work is valued more important as well. Since they make what's actually the game.

The reasons those quests were made is because the Dev side of things wasn't done yet. We could have also stopped at 40 quests, and just finished the building side of Gavel, But then we'd be doing nothing, we'd be waiting for the Devs to finish their stuff up.
