What Do You Like / Dislike About "minecraft" 1.9 So Far?

I believe this picture adequately expresses my hopes and dreams for 1.9.

 

One good thing about the armor nerf is that it will be easier to kill spawnkillers. One probelm about it, though, is that it's so much harder to survive and you could die even easier. (I mean, being a guy who died to a Space Creeper while wearing fully upgraded Power Armor with all modules, this really worries me.)

And that enderman buff tho

Umm, it kinda is... I mean, really... it's not really tactical, it's just kinda annoying.

Armor Debuff is gone. At least that's what I've been told.

 

I really think the weapon cooldown should be removed. If they keep PvP like this, some servers might stay on 1.8. Their only other option is to get a plugin or something that can change pvp.

 

I don't like the new combat thing or the axe being stronger either! They could at least add a battleaxe and a regular axe to balance it out.

 

I don't know why everyone is hating on the new pvp system... .-. I personally think it looks like it could be interesting.

 

The thing where it gets weaker as durability goes down is gone. But now, with diamond armor and enchantments, you're invincible. But now, they only stop 60% of damage instead of 80%, replacing Iron. Each goes down the line a little. So now, well, with this and the enderman buff, with full (unenchanted) diamond armor, and Enderman can deal 3 hearts of damage. And they run faster.

 

1.9 opens up new fighting strategies, Mojang knows what they're doing.


1.8 PvP:

2 players.

sprint jump to each other

make their mouse explode frim spamclicking

whoever has the best gear wins


1.9 PvP:

2 players.

Run up with shield in offhand and sword in hand

strafe hit or block-hit

Use certain weapons' speeds to your advantage

Strafe with axe, spam click with hoe, do something with a pickaxe, give someone brain damage with a shovel, block-hit and 1.9 crit with sword.

Whoever has the best plan and best strategy wins.


And, there's a reason there's attributes. You could set it to the regular speed of 1.8.

 

If only your off-hand could attack...

The armour debuff where Durability affects Protection is gone, but points still count for 3.3% of damage instead of 4%. Also, every 1 Heart of damage dealt, 1 Point of armour is removed (So 10 Damage (5 hearts) would remove 5 Points, 16.5% less protection from the damage)

Haste decreases cooldown depending on it's level. If servers want their SG to stay spammy (Fun Fact: The sword's cooldown is 0.1 second off of the invulnerable cooldown, so if you time it right, you'll deal damage at essentially the same times as spam click) then they can just give everyone Haste 100 for infinity. (/effect @a haste 1000000 100 in an Always Active Repeating Command Block)

 

It's not always about who has the best gear you know.
You need more strategy really to kill someone with better items than you.

1.8 PVP

Two players run at each other, and the one with the least amount of armor needs to come up with a plan to beat the one with the better armor.

You're over looking this crucial thing, no one uses strategies now, because people assume that all it is is mindless spam clicking, but really, you need potions, armor, swords with good enchants, and a massive strategy in order to win. Shields don't add much to gameplay, other than they look weird, and they give you more protection that, oh idk, THE ARMOR GAVE YOU ALREADY. What do you do if you don't have a shield? then it's the same thing, person with the better gear wins. It's not always about the items that someone has to determine a win, it's also about strategy, and planning things out. Plus, with 1.9, person who lands first hit will 7/10 times win. you know that, right?

Also, this new pvp style will make it much harder for new players to learn. The new pvp is ok, I guess. But it will be harder for new players to learn, and get a hang of.

Overall, I just don't see what your big idea of "person with better items wins" cause it's not always like that...
In fact, I once went against a person in full diamond, while I was in full Iron, non enchanted, while his was enchanted, guess who one? Me, because I (big shocker) had the BETTER STRATEGY

Because, you have to think about new players, not just old players. Think of it like this, a kid starts minecraft, and he's playing 1.8.8, and it's all normal... then all of a sudden, unannounced to him, 1.9 comes out, he updates, and then the battle styles he developed through, about a week, or two of playing get completely changed, and he doesn't know it.

Honestly, if that happened to me, I'd quit minecraft right there. Cause I had just learned a lot, and I developed a strategy, and all that. Then boom, it changes, then all my strategies are rendered useless, due to shields, armor debuffed, and all that stuff. Then I'd have to re learn everything I knew, and all that stuff, make new strategies, and all that. I honestly think that it might have an effect on new players, because some of the new players could have just been watching videos, and some how not come across a video showing off the 1.9 features, so they are so used to the "spam clicking" mechanic, that they won't have enough time to learn the new mechanics.

 

Here's another thing that is a pain about the change of 1.9 for new players/uninformed players.
The fact you can still spam click.
So people who don't know about the strength mechanic and the fact you need to wait for attacks to do any damage will still go around spam clicking, completely unknowing to the fact they are doing minimal damage because, even though mojang added the "brown hearts", unless you know what the brown hearts mean, (which these people don't) they don't tell you anything. (Plus you have to count the brown hearts while in combat, which people might not even bother with anyway)

1.8 requires alot of strategy too.
In fact, there is one strategy that is so powerful against people with better gear then you, that you can come out completely unharmed.

Running Away.

This strategy is so powerful it can even give you better gear in exchange for time and effort to allow you to fight that person equally when enough time passes.

If you really went into battle against someone who has better stuff then you, you're either foolish, overestimating yourself or you really do have enough skill and practice with accuracy, agility and environmental knowledge under your belt that you think you can handle it.

• Shields
• Dual Wielding
• Improved Skeleton Animations, but NOT the fact that they can move and shoot you at the same time now making them even stronger than they were before.
• Potion-Tipped Arrows
• Lingering Potions
• Shulkers
• End Cities

What I don't like?

• The new Zombie Villager texture.

Also, the thing you said about playing Minecraft and Mojang announces 1.9 has come out with you quitting Minecraft because of that, this is my response to it:
