Lore/Story The Niiazek Notes

This is a little fanmade lore thing based on the Gavellian rune civilization. The story is that you find them in the cave under the Forgery. This is the contents:


These notes are ancient.. The words are barely legible and there are symbols you don't recognize. Are those.. runes?

'' Entry 1: It's been a historic day today, as we have discovered a large rock in the Canyon of the Lost that is covered in mysterious runes. Chipping them off reveals some circular discs, with a runic letter for each. The greatest Elves have decoded them. Az, Nii, Uth, Tol, Ek. They emit a powerful magical aura, and it may even be able to create artificial life...''

''Entry 2: Just as predicted. We created a guard from rocks in Cinfras County, and with the power of the runes, brought it to life. It seems to be able to summon some weird stuff with its powers. Very.. spacelike. Could these runes be infused with the power of the stars?''

''Entry 3: We created many guards in the County. Large ''Goliaths'', smaller guardians, and one mid-sized defender. Some Orcs came out of the Light Forest and were obliterated easily by our stone warriors. This.. is a turning point in history''

''Entry 4: Our plan is to create a humungous ''Colossus'' for each region of Gavel. Each capable of deflecting any threat, strong enough to destroy the province. As bad as that sounds, the Goliaths have been completely loyal to us. There is no way the Colossi will betray us, too. Besides, they are only somewhat sapient. They can be controlled.''

''Entry 5: We have finished our first Colossus in the Ahms region. It towers above the valley. keeping watch of its people. It wields a mighty blade and now the region is free of any possible threat.''

''Entry 6: The second Colossus is well underway in the Canyon but we found something new in Ahms. We set up a storage site for the Uth runes we used in the Ahms Colossus' construction, and when we almost finished moving them to a new site in the canyon, something incredible happened. Before our very eyes, 2 Uth runes fused into 1 Tol rune. We shall investigate this phenomenon further.''

''Entry 7: The Canyon colossus is almost complete. In the meantime, we set up an altar just on the outskirts of the Light Forest. Scientists from our lab in the west plains discovered here that many rune fusions can be done. 2 Az runes become 1 Nii, 2 Nii become 1 Uth, 2 Uth become 1 Tol, 2 Tol become 1 Ek, and 2 Ek become 1 Az. Interesting.''

''Entry 8: The canyon guardian is at last complete. We will move production to the County soon. Each colossus is equipped with its own army of Goliaths and guardians.''

''Entry 9: We've had an interesting idea. If 2 runes of the same type can fuse into another rune, what would happen if a few different runes fused into one? Would a new rune be created? We will test this with the fusion of a Nii, Az and Ek rune. We will call this the ''Niiazek experiment''''

''Entry 10: Oh dear god. When we fused the runes together, a huge explosion happened that sent a shockwave across Gavel. The Goliaths are breaking, the people are dying, everything is going wrong. I was lucky to escape with my life. The altar we made has lifted the earth on which it stands into the sky. It seems we truly have accidentally caused the end of civilization. And now, I feel like.. I'm being.. consumed.. by the stars.. hahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA''

Just a minor nitpick, shouldn't it be 3 that need to fuse? The Olmic altar only requires 2, but the Sky Islands one requires 3. Admittedly, that's definitely just a gameplay thing so you are still rewarded for doing the olmic rune, but lore-wise I think it'd make sense if that's just the best conversion rate the Gavellian rune users were able to get.




Anyways, yeah, besides that, this looks cool!

Tbh they should just make the sky island one unlockable after the Olmic rune so it stays the same
