It makes sense for them to be priced very high (literal stacks of le) due to their limited nature, but people buying and reselling mythics, and especially mythics they already have, has destroyed the economy for anyone who doesn't have a mythic. Getting a mythic is the only way to have a competetive edge in the market. Because of the limited supply, lack of foresight in creating a higher tier of items that are so limited they can't even be effectively obtained beyond pure luck and playing for hours has created a broken system ;)

Oh I almost forgot, overpricing is not the correct term since they are legitimately worth that much when the circumstances of the market (what I said above) are taken into consideration.

then people will overprice even more
but that means it's just normal overpricing because the overpriced price is now the normal price of those overpriced items

The price of an item varies because of an item's stats, not because of someone else posting another of the same item for more.

You have to think about market pricing as a similarity to fuel/gasoline prices. The same product can go for different prices depending on the seller, quality, and acquiring conditions. Every oil company has different prices to the same fuel. This price does usually not differ much, as the companies are well aware of competition.
The quality of the oil used to create the fuel and the fuel itself has a say in the pricing. This is similar to what the stats of Wynncraft items does to their price.
Acquiring conditions is a third factor in pricing of fuel. If the stuff is hard to get, the price goes up because of natural rarity. If an unforeseen situation making the product harder to get than previous, the price goes up. When it is solved, the price will slowly decline to normal state again.

All of this determines the price of fuel in the real world. But actually not only fuel. Pretty much everything is priced using these factors, sometimes also more, such as architectural designing, man-hours, production maintenance, waste-product removal. All of this costs as well. Of course, there is one thing not counting any of these factors really, but art is weird. Art is art because it has no purpose at all other than, supposedly look pretty taking up space from the rest of us.

Now, I want you all to realize that the stock market isn't only a lot of suit-wearing numbskulls with scribly pens, fancy laptops, and suspicious connections determining prices of things. It's the means of getting it to the costumer that determines the price. So if everyone starts overpricing items for no good reason at all, it's most likely because they have all agreed to screw over any buyer and mess up the economy even more (This kind of agreement is even against international law to keep economies healthy). Competition causing prices to fall is good for an economy. Keeps the prices low and money flowing. You should all try it.

TL;DR: Everyone overpricing isn't going to make the overpricing the normal price. It's only going to mess up the economy, eliminate competition and isolate the market. It'll still just be overpricing.

The term "overprice" has lost its meaning on the wynncraft market.

What if I told you tems are worth exactly as much as people are willing to pay for them? If nobody wants to buy the item for the set price, the invisible hand is going to lower the price or the item won't get sold. This also works the other way; if mythic sellers see people buy mythics for higher, the prices are going to rise.

This does not count for scamming, of course.

I think these people are blaming a legitimate concern on the wrong people. If anyone were to sell a mythic for what these people would consider a 'reasonable price', it would be bought immediately and resold at a more standard price, meaning the original seller is basically giving away emeralds. This is a problem with the economy in general, and more specifically the divide between people who can afford to trade mythics and people who can't. This can only really be fixed by game mechanics, and it's a balance that is very difficult to get right. I trust the developers to proceed cautiously and gradually fix the underlying game design that has left the economy where it is.

I feel like that needs its own thread :p. Actually, I bet there already is a thread for that somewhere in the suggestions. Personally, I think mythics should drop more often. Not like legendary items, but maybe a little less. The player inventory has 27 slots excluding 9 on hotbar. If you are farming enemies and find 10 full inventory of legendary items [10*27=270], you should at least find 1 mythic too. The thing is, mythics are just too random and mess with game balance. It is understandable that they are so powerful (cata, alka, etc.) only because of their status. Make them more common, drop some nerfs, then maybe we closer to a balanced game where people aren't soloing LI with a +attk tier abooser alka warrior (which is also a whole other thread on its own [this post is just a nightmare]) and items aren't being sold for astronomical prices which limit the player base to only hardcore players and veterans that played before all that nonsense (and also the random kids that come and go). Still tho, its not overpricing (or at least that is the wrong term for the trade market problems due to the actual meaning of the world [detailed in above posts]).
