That's good stuff my dude. Grian once said boats are really difficult to build, yet somehow you made some out of dirt. If the Content Team won't have you, the VOC definitely will

Those ships actually look great, but a lot of the structures are just basic medieval houses with log framework. You would probably want to use a greater variety of builds that can showcase your talents as opposed to practically the same house over and over again. You should experiment with different styles and forms of structure and detailing, and try to phase out of the habit of using nothing but 3x3 frames around the houses. Framework isn't a bad thing, but you need to find ways to add more variation and depth to it. Just by adding some slabs between the logs that are sticking out (sorry I can't think of a better way to phrase it), it can help emphasize the little bit of depth you had with those logs, and you can use a lot of different detail techniques that would look weird without the extra layer of slabs there. Shape is also an important aspect of building, and most of your houses are just rectangles with no real dimensional interest. It looks like you were using better shapes in those survival builds, and the diagonal house and castle looks pretty good. The mega build also looks great, although the details are really inconsistent between the top and bottom floors (The bottom floor is much more detailed than the top, and it makes the top floor look a lot more empty), and the big dome at the top has a bit of an awkward shape. Try to keep in mind the amount of details you are using throughout the build and try to stay consistent with them.

For terrain, you should avoid using random noise to paint it because it makes the terrain look a bit messy. Angle masks are a good way to paint, and if you really want to add some variation in the grass you can use cylinder brushes to add patches of dirt or green concrete around.

Not saying the builds are bad by any means, but I just wanted to provide some constructive criticism to help you improve. Hope it helps! :)

that is actually really helpful! I need to work on my detail badly and yes; my houses are all (at the end of the day) framed boxes. I'll apply again once I have taken your advice! Honestly the best I've gotten in a while... thanks!

Well I'm glad it's helpful, if you want any more advice feel free to message me. There's a thread in the Your Services category run by someone with much more experience than me that could probably give you better advice than I can. I don't have enough posts to link the thread but it's called Architect's Union.

also how did your application get reviewed so quickly I submitted mine a month ago and haven't got a response

not sure maybe they filter out the bad ones and leave the good ones for a manager to check

In my opinion there are just too few "finished examples". Builds with proper terrain around them, and actual composition.

    Points you have done well.
    1. The level of detailing:
Good level of detail on the walls. LOD on point and not too much clutter

    2. Terrain coloring
I am glad you mostly avoided doing //replace 'randomBlocks'. I think how you are currently colloring your terrain is good.

Too improve I think you should:
    1. Use the default texture pack
Using a texture pack in your portfolio is a massive red flag, as you want your portfolio to be used in all sorts of situations. Think about it like this, if something looks bad in the default texture pack it is going to look bad in a custom texture pack. Show the Managers you can do color gradients. Show them your prowess at creating pallets with the default blocks, so they know your skills will naturally transfer over onto the wynncraft texturepack.

Also remember, you may want to apply for other buildteams in the future, and they may not even use a texture pack. So definitely use the default textures as that is a universal standard for everyone to judge your skills.

    2. Composition.
There is no coherency in all of the pictures on your portfolio, they just look like individual houses. I believe that is why you got rejected.
I think you should go onto a server with building plugins and build there. Servers like: mc.buildersrefuge.com are a great place to start.
Try to plan out your builds before you build them. Make sure to have a foreground, middle ground and a background. Draw it out and label it in MS paint.
    upload_2020-5-6_11-11-52.png
    Easy method for composition.
Background: used for big mountinas to backdrop the build. put terrain HERE
Middle Ground: draw the viewers eyes >>> HERE <<<. this will be your main build
Foreground: put random stulf here, trees, farms, random houses. Direct the viewers ^^up^^ further into the build. while complementing the middle ground.
ALSO remember look up the rule of thirds when taking a picture. Frame them properly for maximum impressiveness.

    Conclusion:
Structures are good, terrain is good. Please go to builders refuge and practice world edit. and also plan before you build. If you take on all of this you'll 100% make it into the team.

Thank you so much for this! I do really need to work on putting my builds into an actual place instead of having them on imaginary islands... I'll try to do a bit of building of buildersrefuge, but I do have some stuff I'm working on on my private server.

Glad you found it helpful. Definitively build on builders refuge, because learning world edit commands increases your chances significantly.
