Great Server

I don't see a lot of creative ideas nowadays and it's nice to see a good concept. It has a great map and has a lot of content. nice job owners you did a good thing

even though the content is amazing, it still turns out that people enjoy skipping over it and going for the more important thing- levels.

People try so hard to make the adventure end quicker with XP items, bombs, dungeons, anything- screw doing quests. Let's just avoid the entire story line of the server! Woo yes level 100 I feel very accomplished now I can go ahead and cheese all the earlier quests and get through them all with no problems!
Hooo-ey man this dungeon grinding is difficult stuff.

most people do indeed do all the quests and explore a lot in their first play through, but after that i don't see problems using bombs or totems to help yourself level faster in subsequent classes after you already enjoyed all the contents

 

most people do do all of or at least most of the quests for leveling and as for not doing earlier quests most of them, especially in the first 20 or so levels, are just filler quests

What storyline? Most quests are just side quests so the player should skip them if they want to and they don’t need to.

You mean as a long string of mostly disconnected events that have little impact on the world and don’t really solve any mysteries? That’s not really a “story.” In a story, you have actual characters and a Main central conflict that is somehow resolved at the end. All events are side quests so by default they don’t count as a main conflict. The corruption is so vague and uninspired and uncreative that no one knows what it is and frankly, most players don’t care what it is because NOTHING the player does changes anything about the corruption. Speaking of the player, the player is so generic and boring (since it’s a MMO) that they might as well be a wooden plank. The only memorable characters are Yahya and Bob, and that’s bc Bob has actual lore behind him and Yahya is a meme. Everything else is pretty much inconsequential and doesn’t matter.

On your point against how all the "quests" are "side quests"- this is true. If each "major" quest completion actually changed that part of whatever province then there would be nothing for the newer heroes to do. It just wouldn't work. But the world of Wynncraft is still a story. It's a story of each individual hero going through this new world (to him) aiding townsfolk, building his strengths, saving provinces, and overall discovering the undiscovered- even if his completions mean nothing because the next hero will come by and do exactly what he just did and resave, rekill the boss, redo everything. Really, it can all be based on how you decide to view Wynncraft. Yes, it can just be a server where you do lame side quests and complete the same dungeon over and over. OR it can be a story, each move your hero makes creates an impact in the imagination (creating a story).

and I could also imagine it not being a story if the hero continually did the same dungeon, killing the same boss, saving whatever, interfering with the dungeon boss's same plan- it'd just be pretty boring.

No, this is a Christian server, not a creative one.

 

Siegfried and Ragnar don’t count because they aren’t officially in the game yet. They probably will be main storyline characters if they ever do implement one.

Still, you’re character literally stays the same throughout the whole journey, as well as the everything else. The whole experience then just feels pointless.

If you can enjoy the game for how it is, hey, more power to you. Just a story that where you have to create the story yourself doesn’t appeal to me. It’s like how some people say FNAF has a great “story” because you’re “supposed” to fill in the gaps that are left vague and convoluted. It just seems lazy and poorly done. Now, there’s a difference between this and a story being nuanced and told mostly through visuals. If you ever played Hollow Knight or Little Nightmares, you know what I’m talking about. This game, however, doesn’t use visuals and has nothing unique to it whatsoever compared to most games.

I'm pretty sure Siegfried is just a joke/reference to the villagers' greed, as no one (ie none of the Siegfried dialogue npcs) have actually seen him, and all his merchandise is ridiculously overpriced. I don't know about Ragnar (obviously I've heard of him tho), but it seems he is a character similar to the player in the tasks he does, type of character etc.

Wynncraft really is a fantastic server and it will benefit hugely from the coding refactor so that updates can come out faster afterwards. Currently, the server gets an update on an average of every 6 months which means that there's a large amount of time when the game grows "stale", but once the codingrefactor is out, the game should stay interesting and less "stale" for longer :)
