Warrior/Knight Help early battle monk builds

On my first time through with an archer/boltslinger at 87. Thinking of starting a battle monk and will be pretty aggressive about levelling up. Plenty of lists about where to go to do that, but I haven't seen much about how to equip. When I was in early levels with archer, I pretty much used what I found in chests or got in drops. Anything I picked up that seemed like it was better than what I had I used. I peeked at the market and could not understand how people could afford the stuff with really attractive stats. Now I do.

Anyway, any early suggestions for armor and spears? And what levels to think about switching it up at?

 

Builds really don't matter too much at low levels. You can pretty much just spam rares and legendaries until like level 50, and even then as long as you're paying at least a bit of attention to item synergy you'll be good. Just remember to have some form of raw health regen and/or life steal and you'll be fine.

 

Yeah, going through levels quick makes it all short term, but I am finding I still enjoy trying to put together decent stuff. This is my new battle monk at lv 28.

I have a "market player" - a mage I spun up, skipped tutorial, put on a horse and rode out to Detlas. There is a little passage through the wall so it is about a dozen steps from the tm to the closest ender chest. I did searches for "psion" every now and then yesterday, never getting a hit. Tried again just now; no joy, but a couple of things sold overnight so he can step over to the bank and put a couple of other things out there. But I used a couple of other legendary weapons getting to this point - a fast hook and a slow hammer - and found that my preference for fast didn't seem to make as much sense as it did in archer. I will still try it if one pops up with a reasonable price within a few levels, but I am mostly grinding/slaying with this player and have done few quests except for ones like Grave Digger that are short and needed for access to a grinding area like Saint's Row. I will go back and do more before I get a lot further, but generally just to keep from getting blocked. I suck at parkour and not crazy about doing puzzles with mc mechanics. In most cases, grinding outpaces quests for me as far as levelling up and the emerald rewards are not significant yet.

and then a few minutes later I check again and there is one. Melee damage bonus is pretty meh at 14% but everything else is really good (overall rating 79%). At least I will have a chance to try one out later.

 

I am torn about the psion versus the smasher. The psion is clearly the better spell spear. But if I get into a situation where I start smacking things, not so much. In my daily crate I got adventurer boots and leggings. Got me curious and I looked up the set bonus. 50% xp and the helmet and chest piece were reasonable. Lots available at an almost identical price of not much over 300, so I will just have to put them back up for 300 to make them disappear when done. But, that setup is a little edgy from the protection aspect when grinding the spider spot at the corruption near Nemract. It gets xp faster, but if I get in a bind, being able to count on a single strike taking something out can be important.
