Guide Before You Price Check...

You probably clicked this because you run a store or looking to sell an item and don't know what the market price is. The obvious solution to this problem is to go to the price checker thread, and that works, but 90% of the people there aren't the same people who are interested in buying what they're price checking. This creates a disconnect between you and the market, which leads to your items not selling.

For this reason, the price checking thread doesn't really work under most circumstances, but there's another, much bigger problem, money scaling.

Money in Wynncraft works as an exponential function. For those who don't know what that is, it means that as you get to higher levels, you make more money then you did at the last level. That isn't a good description, so heres a graph:



This means that if you're trying to sell a legendary piece of gear, you can't only look at the stats, you also need to look at the equip level and determine how much usage the item will really get. like money, levels also follow an exponential function, as it gets slower and slower to gain new levels. This means that the higher the base level, the more usage the item will get before being replaced. More usage means more value.

In my personal experience (please message me if you have a different opinion :D) level 85 is the point where the chart stops going right and starts going up quickly. This is where I believe most useful gear surpasses the value of 5LE. There are obviously exceptions, but almost nothing with a base level lower then 85 should go for more then 5LE, as there are almost always better alternatives at a higher level.

Finally, according to SilverMirror, the mean emerald amount is 172LE, but almost everybody has less then that because Wynn, like the real world, has a few ultra rich people, and tonnes of poor people which averages out.

With this information in mind, I've come up with a few steps for valuing armor and weapons.

Spoiler: Steps

Step 1:
Check the item index to see the max stats in the categories that matter (Walk speed for booster plate, ect...)

Step 2:
Search the market for when the same item (regardless of stats) sold and what price it sold for, and the sold items stats.

OR

Determine on a scale of 1-10 how good your item is, with 1 being the worst and 10 being perfect. Next, check the level range, and try to determine a fair price based on this information:

Levels 1-10 generally don't use the forums, and aren't normally buying gear, so you're best off selling that stuff to a merchant

Levels 11-30 may use the forums, but don't have much money. Normally 1-3 LE at most

Levels 31-50 are probably not looking for gear on the forums because of the good quest rewards

Levels 51-84 Is the first level grouping who really need to buy gear, but at this point, they generally don't have more then 10-15 LE to spend, and generally don't want to use it all on a piece of gear. This one guy was saying that a blue mask was worth 30+ LE on the value checker, but nobody who would use it has that much money to spend on an item like that (MOST Blue masks are worth around 3-5 LE, and the ones that aren't don't typically sell).

Levels 85+ is the only grouping where money is not really a concern. This is where gear lasts a long time, or forever/when the next update outdated the items. This is where final tier gear can sell for stacks of LE, but until these levels, nothing is worth more then a couple LE

Step 3: SELL SELL SELL
Once you have a fair value, post it to the forums and see what happens, after all, business works off of supply and demand. If there is little supply and a High demand, raise your prices a little (KEEP IT REASONABLE!!!) and if theres too much of that item in the market, lower your prices. If you really want to sell items, don't just sell singles, sell entire builds and you can make boat loads of money.

In conclusion, before you sell, make sure that you are selling to your demographic, and aren't just trying to make a quick buck.

yeah, but price check is never market value, and in my experience people don't lower their prices

its cause your buying from the rich people who will just ignore you cause they know that legendaries will get someone else that want to buy them. Why do you think everyone says "OFFER FIRST"

I agree it's not like the chart, that's just what an exponential function looks like. However, it is still bad

 

90+ sp blue masks are worth a lot (like 50 le iirc-infinite for a 100 sp one)

I only say that cause I couldn't find any good builds using it, but that could be my error.

i doubt level 68 people have a few stacks to spend

100 sp blue mask = free diamond fusion amulet = free prisms = 35 sp and very good elem defs without spending any skill points

But how does not spending SP help you? if you did, you could replace the helmet slot with something providing better benefits.
