So, In my class, we were reading the mayan creation myth Popol Vuh, (It's gud i recommend) and our end of book project was to make our own creation myth/ mythology. I liked mine enough i'm sharing it here. If you like it, feel free to write your own short story based off this universe and characters and send it to me or reply to this w/ it:

Before what we considered reality, There was only a jumble of planets scarcely populated by anything, and stars crashing into each other. Wila, the primordial being, prophet of Nyx was an entity of pure darkness, An evil so terrible it tried to black out the stars. It toured the young universe, destroyed whatever it could. He moved like a stingray through the stars, with a long tail. Whenever he found a world, he wrapped his tail around it as many times as it could, and squeezed it so hard it crushed the world.

His grand tour of the universe came to a slow halt as he grew weaker and to the point he could scarcely destroy anything, in part because he had destroyed so much there was little left to destroy. He found the Atramin world, a red desert planet with steep cliffs and mesa stained by the white star it went around. He looked around for life, and under a large ledge he found a little hamlet under a large ledge. Noticing Wila, the villagers hid. All but one clever wizard, named Byrrnd. He was, in reality, both young and old, but appeared to have long black hair and a long cloak. Byrrnd offered Wila a deal: Byrrnd knew a secret that could make his destruction infinite, if only he spared this world. Wila accepted.

Byrrnd said: “Create another entity of your own stature, of equally infinite power, and make it immortal. You can destroy it and kill it infinitely, and bring it back to life infinitely. Thus, if your destruction of it is infinite, your destruction is infinite. But be advised this, too: Keep this runestone. If this entity becomes too powerful, simply speak the ancient words and it will be entombed within this runestone.”

And so Wila spared the world. Wila went on and created this new being, Krian. Eons later, Krian was so miserable of being destroyed and killed over and over again, dismembered and put back together that he took action. While Wila was sleeping in his cave, Krian took a heavy cleaver from Wila’s servant’s kitchen,. Krian was sleepless, and was very tired, so he decided to put down the cleaver to rest. In the dark, he did not see the stash of gold owned by Wila. The metal cleaver clanged against gold, waking Wila from his sleep. Wila flew through the cave, escaping, but not before Krian could slice off his tail, which was slimy and waxy. Krian found a stone on the ground. For some reason, he could not resist this blueish pebble, so he put it in his pocket.

He went Into the Ima, a cluster of dead worlds and systems, to hide from Wila. He used Wila’s tail to pull comets and clusters into each other. He took some from desert worlds, others from jungle planets, volcanic hellscapes, others from water worlds, plains, meadows, forests, alpines, and mountainous worlds. When he was done, these large fragments of worlds pulled together to create the earth. From earth, he worked on his ultimate machination to destroy Wila.

He decided to create humans, because he knew Wila could sense life. The humans were not enough life to attract Wila from across the universe, so he created other animals, cats, dogs, pumas, deer, alpacas, llamas, camels, bears and so on and so forth. This was finally enough to bring out Wila, who came to squeeze the world to destruction, but remembered Krian had cut it off. Either way, Wila wanted to kill and destroy, so he chased the humans across the world, which made them have the strong legs we have today. In one of the slower humans, Krian had added the runestone Byrrnd Gave Wila to his food a week before. When Wila swallowed this human, the runestone, the Uth rune trapped wila inside the stone and so stopped him. Wila was not dead, but kept in the Uth stone’s prison. Wila’s tail is where his life force came from, so Krian took his fatty, slimy, waxy tail, and fashioned it into many many candles, which he gave to humans, along with fire. As the candles burned, Wila’s life force was stripped away from him. When the last candle burns out, Wila will die. As revenge, humans burn candles, and love to burn candles to cast out the dark. And so when the light of the last candle goes out, the darkness dies without it, as dark and light cannot exist without each other. Light hits an object that casts a shadow, making dark. With only dark, the dark cannot see what next to infect with dark. But earth was still dark.

Birth of the sun and stars

With Wila in the rune, Krian set about weaving two huge baskets. Since each basket was like an upside down dome, he tied them together to make a huge ball, which he filled up with tinder, and at the center of the ball was the Uth rune that kept in Wila. He also fashioned a large slingshot, where he set the ball filled with tinder and wood on fire, and cast it into the void. But there was a problem: Soon, the ball of fire would come back to earth, and scorch the world. Krian had not thought of this, and many eons later died after a long life. He gave his first son, Eccanoro, his slingshot with which he cast the sun into space. This gave Eccanoro power over the winds in which the slingshot shoots through. He gave his first Daughter, Erran, Byrrnd’s great book of magic, and traveled into the sun with a chisel. He chipped off a small bit of the Uth rune, which he gave to Erran, who then fashioned these flakes of runestone into a new runic language. This granted Erran immense power, and became goddess of magic to join her brother Eccanoro who was god of Winds.

Next up was Nehl, his dark and soot-covered son was very strong. Krian ripped off the largest volcano in the world, and threw it into space. He added stone around it,and it fashioned into a white sphere, the moon. Whenever there is a blood moon, it means magma seeped out to the surface. In the moon was a volcano, where Krian built a great forge, and the Hammer Gimabolga. He gifted the moon forges, a great deal of metal, and the hammer Gimabolga to Nehl, and made him the god of Inventors and forges.

And lastly, his youngest daughter, Nehalla. For her, he created the Nigolanabakoro, or palace of the Dishonoured dead, and the surrounding lands. In her halls, her servants tended to the dishonoured dead, those who lead immoral or cruel lives. They simply sat as ghosts in her dining hall. Her palace was seated right next to the heavens, so the dishonoured dead could peer into the heavens. The second purpose of them being so close was so that whenever the Divine Power felt a soul had paid penance, it could lift a soul to heaven. And with each of his children made gods, he appointed Byrrnd head of the pantheon to help make decisions. Nehl built the great hall, a large palace of domes, quartz, bricks, and emerald on an island for which the gods to gather. He gave Byrrnd one half of his divine power and knowledge. And with that he ascended to the heavens. As heaven was outside the universe, Krian poked holes into the cosmic sphere to peer in and check on his children. Since the universe was so large, he lost those view holes, and kept making new ones. The light of heaven shone through these holes, making the stars bright.

    Wila’s escape

Once, a great time after Krian left to the heavens, the giant Kyrial attempted to free Wila. When Kyrial marched into the solar system, Nehl forged a great chain and pulled together many rocks to make more worlds, which Eccanoro used his slingshot to launch at Kyrial, this only slowed him down. Nehalla came down to earth to see what the commotion was about, and byrrnd called a meeting. He said he had an idea: “Even worlds cannot stop Kyrial. I say one of us disguises our self as a drunk. And one of us makes a huge vat of mead. The drunk will challenge Kyrial to a challenge of drinking, and whoever drinks more must pay for it all. The drunk will drink much of it, and seeing how much it is, Kyrial will not want to pay for it, and he will drink much more. We continue this until he gets drunk and passes out, then we will tie him up and throw him into the sun.” They all agreed this was a great plan. Nehl disguised himself, Eccanoro pretended to be the bar owner and brewed the drink, Nehalla would guide Kyrial towards the bar. Nehalla brought him to the bar, where a disguised Nehl challenged him: “I challenge you to a contest to drink the most. Whoever loses must pay in full.” he said. Kyrial thought there was no way a tiny human could drink more than him, but Nehl drank a truly astonishing amount. Kyrial saw all this and thought there was no way he could pay for that. So Kyrial drank and drank and drank, for 15 days and 15 nights straight. On the 16th day, he finally caved, and became so drunk he passed out. The gods tied him up and threw him into the sun, where he burned.

    Nehl’s Adventure with Laufa

Long before Kyrial, Nehl had run out of scraps. In the giant world, he knew of a smith who could give him some metal. Nehl mountained his mechanical horse Nellahekalonoro’ orogogogoch and set of for Gianorld, world of giants. After a month, he found Laufa the giant’s home. On the inside, there was both a forge and a tavern. Laufa was tending to his customers, and noticed Nehl. He gestured for Nehl to sit down and he did. After a few minutes, Laufa asked Nehl why he was there.

“I would like to buy some of your scrap metal.” said Nehl.

Laufa knew secretly that Nehl was not a giant but Nehl. He saw straight through Nehl’s disguise. First he said: “I would like to trade it to you for your fine silver horse.” Nehl refused.

Second, he said: “If you cannot take a large bite of this green apple, I get your horse.”

Nehl thought this was odd, but accepted. He saw straight through the illusion: The green apple was in fact a jungle planet, which is why it looked like a green apple. Nehl knew he could not bite through a planet without breaking his jaw, so he instead loosened his throat and dropped the whole apple in straight through his throat and into his stomach.

Laufa complained that he didn’t bite it, but they agreed that since Nehl ate the whole apple, he could keep his horse.

Third, Laufa said: “Here is a mead horn, the greatest giants like myself drink it in 3 big gulps, and none cannot finish it in 4. Empty it all at once to prove to me you are truly great.”

Nehl saw an invisible tube connected to the bottom that connected it to the oceans. The only way to empty it would be to drink all the oceans. Instead, Nehl put it to his mouth, and blew, pushing back all the water from the horn to the oceans. He showed it to Laufa and said he emptied it like he asked. Laufa was astonished.

Nehl said: “This time, let me challenge you. If you cannot do as I ask, I get all your metal.” Laufa was too shocked to say no.

Nehl issued his challenge “Do not move or do anything for 10,000 years.” Laufa was honorbound, and did not move for 10,000 years. While he was still, Nehl loaded all Laufa’s metal into his wagon, and rode his mechanical horse with his wagon pulled behind him back to the moon forges.

    Erran’s runes

Erran controlled most of her magic from a silver gauntlet with 6 large holes and dozens other smaller ones. In the large ones, she put the main and most powerful runes: Uth, Az, Ek, Tol, Arero, and Nyii. In the center of the plate that covered her palms built in power crystal that provided her runes with the power they needed to do magic. When she used the full power of the gauntlet, she had unimaginable power.

Almost immediately after Krian had left, there was a problem: Ghosts. Nehalla was new to the job of keeping hell secure, which meant nobody leaves, and nobody not dead comes in. Since Nehalla was new to keeping the underworld, spirits kept leaving to torment the cosmos at large. While Erran was enchanting a sword for a fine mortal hero, a messenger from Nehalla came asking Erran to come and help Nehalla with the problem.

So, many days and nights later Erran arrived at Nigolanabakoro. They asked a soul that had tried to escape but was caught who helped him get out. He agreed to say who it was, if only they let him return. Nehalla was about to accept, but Erran ignited her gauntlet, so that all the crystals and runes glowed brightly, and smashed it into the ground. The next 3 stories below her vaporized. The 7 below that crumbled. Seeing Erran’s immense power, the poor soul confessed: “ It was the giant Lyan. He smuggles people out of the underworld. He is somewhere between the east and north gates.” Erran and Nehalla left for the north-east wall. Sure enough, they found Lyan and a cannon by the wall. Lyan admitted to smuggling souls out of the underworld.

Angry, Erran half ignited her gauntlet, and summoned a fireball. She threw it with all her might. She threw it right under Lyan’s feet, and knocked him off his feet. Lyan quickly got up. Nehalla took her gauntlet in rage, fully ignited it, put herself and had Erran launch her. She Slammed into Lyan’s chest with the force of the cannon, at the same time punching him with all her might with the gauntlet in full ignition. Every single particle and fiber of Lyan’s Existence separated at that moment, even across time. She got him so hard he never existed. With her job done, Nehalla and Erran returned to Nigolanabakoro. Nehl made Nehalla a fingerless glove out of indestructible fabric, which had a large glass plate on it. Erran Enchanted it, so that Nehalla could look into the glass and see all of the underworld, and stretch her hand through it to manipulate anything, to pull souls back.

    Byrrnd’s misadventure

Long before the night prophet Wila came to the Atramin world, Byrrnd was great wizard. Once he went very lost. He had a normal day, watching the sun rise and set over the Atramin mesa world. He had somehow woken up in a pile of sand in the hot desert. Red sand covered his face. His eyes barely poked out. He got up out of the sand. He was on a large cliff that hung over the valley. He stared across the valley. Even lower down from the valley was a gargantuan sinkhole. He found a dead tree, and took many branches. He tore his cloak and used some yarn to make wings. He glided down into the sinkhole, which had many other caves stretching out of it. He felt the ground shake. Out of one of the sides, a hole erupted, and a dragon flew out.

A group of spear wielding warriors came out. They loaded a large spear into a large crossbow mounted onto a cart, about 5 feet long. They pulled it back, and it struck the dragon in the eye. With it’s one eyed stare it looked down. It found those who destroyed its right eye. His stomach glowed. The rock around him turned red from heat. A current of fire washed down on them all. Byrrnd thought fast, using the wind to bring up all the grains of sand. The fire melted it all into glass, and then Byrrnd cooled it down almost instantly, hardening it. A dome of glass was over them. The dragon flew up and out of the sinkhole, then came crashing down onto the glass dome, and it all shattered at once. Byrrnd flew up all the grains of sand, and wrapped it around the dragon’s body, then heated them all into glass, then cooled them into hardness, like a cocoon. He was unable to move. Using more sand and making glass, he built up a staircase and mechanical wings. He reach the top of the sinkhole, and flew up into the sky back to his hamlet-under-the-ledge.

    The end of everything

First, Laufa the giant will move again. Wanting revenge on Nehl for his trickery. Laufa will travel to the sun, and pour so much water on it that it goes out. Using the sun energy, he brought Kyrial back to life. Next up, Laufa brings back Lyan, who comes to earth. He pushes the unlit sun back to earth, the force of which brings out the Uth rune. Lyan steals Erran’s gauntlet while she sleeps, and uses it to crack open the Uth rune. Wila is free. Nehalla hears about this, immediately resurrects all the dishonoured dead and trains them to use magic. Nehalla brings them across the universe to earth.

Meanwhile, with Her gauntlet gone, Erran finds Nehl, and convinces Nehl to create another, more powerful gauntlet, and a full set of armor to go with it, as well as the Kiroshaneerobakaleenorohadllanfiar, a mythic scythe with a hande 100 feet thick and a shaft 100000 feet tall, and a blade 2 miles long, encrusted with jewels and enchanted to the fullest extent that Erran could make it. Byrrnd consulted the Divine Power, which reminded him that only one being can truly face Wila. With that, Erran and Byrrnd set about summoning krian from heaven. They arranged 837 golden avia feathers, and found a large diamond. Byrrnd enlarged this diamond into a mountain of pure diamond. Erran and Eccanoro got the feathers to fly by themselves.

“Kolo noro oro folo kanetenaa saarha nojo fo ro ko lo no no ro ro se si karakatasalangnium alarenga zhime zhime cosa alascosa sasseerenga!” They chanted in unison. Slowly, the feathers formed together to make a bird. This bird flew up to the top of the mountain. And pecked. And pecked and pecked, until it reach the center of the mountain. At the center was prize unimaginable: A glowing purple gem from universes unknown. They added this final gem, the Qralescanonorofiarellhankanorobakanesselanakorobeennsinkilohoroenoro to the scythe Kiroshaneerobakaleenorohadllanfiar. Wearing this legendary armor, Erran held up the scythe to the sky. Thunder crackled. Everything went white. When they woke up, krian stood over them, wearing this armor, in a massive form. Holding the scythe, he was the most powerful thing in creation. With krian, they went back to earth. In one blow, Krian destroyed almost everything. Everything in the universe shattered into atoms, then shattered into the components of an atom, then into quarks, then melted into pure energy. Everything but a small system, a copy of earth’s. There, Eccanoro’s son Elesor, Errans daughter Nahua, Nehl’s son Orbljakk, and Nehalla’s daughter Lyora. They saw the destruction of everything. And after Krian destroyed almost everything, Wila was gone. So was Laufa. And Kyrial and Lyan. And Krian, and byrrnd, and Nehl, and Nehalla, And Eccanoro, and Erran. Everything was gone. Fortunately, they had passed all their knowledge onto their children. Nehl had swapped the moons, so his forge was safe. And the four children looked over their world as the sun set, and all silently vowed to make a new world. A better world. One that didn’t destroy and corrupt. As they looked onwards, they felt their parents say, Go on. Go forth. Make this new universe a better one. And so, the cycle of the universe began once more. In time, this universe had new worlds, galaxies, stars, humans, alpacas, llamas, camels, everything else. One question remains? What happened to Byrrnd’s children? Well, some say they live on earth, in a little Hamlet-Under-The-Ledge.

    The End.
