Ik, but still, we are so bad we managed to kill him three times while defending ourselves.

Don't kill the mobs if you don't need to, Seluc can kill them on his own just fine. Try leading him around the mobs instead of fighting them, and knock them away with arrow storm so they will be far away but won't respawn like they would if you killed them.
