Reading through the Mao thread from a few years ago I am thoroughly entertained. I love logic puzzles!
I haven't finished reading to the end of rule 4 yet (I know it's eventually solved since I saw you were on 6 by the time the thread was archived) and I'm stumped enough[*] that I don't want to read any further (risking a spoiler) until I've slept on the problem!
