I just prefer a sword since it's sorta faster then a shield and has better slashing and piercing damage a shield is better at defense and bludgeon damage (unless you modified the shield with crazy stuff)

a desk has a larger mass therefore causes more pain, while it requires much more strength to throw or swing than the bat. Although the desk is huge and painful, it's very hard to pick up and throw/swing, so I'd have to go with the baseball bat.

Yeah, it really just depends on how did you hurt yourselves/someone else, how that person's pain tolerance is, the situation, and how the object is being used. I would say baseball bat though.
