When Will Minecraft Die? {remake}

Pretty simple question. When do you think Minecraft is gonna die?


This is a thread for debating, and I'm expecting serious answers. so have fun.

It's already dead. Really, who plays single-player anymore? Nobody.

 

I think it won't die forever (the following sentences aren't my idea). Many kids are growing up with Minecraft, and some of those kids will go into game development and use their childhood experiences from Minecraft to build their own games. Then the kids who grew up with the Minecraft-based game who become game devs will use that idea, and the cycle continues. Or perhaps something new will catch on, but Minecraft is a gaming legend for the amount of players it has picked up and for how long it has lasted, and it most likely will never be forgotten.

i mean yeah, people are gonna stop playing it eventually, but that doesn't mean that it's just gonna suddenly stop being relevant.



I mean look at spore, it was made in 2008 and people still make lets-plays of it.

 

m8 have you ever been to one of those dingy arcade places with ancient arcade machines from the 80s that people still play?

 

Nope.

 

m8 have you looked up pacman? Just because the tech is forgotten doesn't mean the game is too.

 

servers and mods are keeping minecraft alive right now so when they start to die out (if they ever will), then minecraft will go with it.

 

When I said "die" I meant that nobody will play it anymore.

Microsoft be like: We will do everything in our power to keep the Minecraft alive, for it is a significant symbol of Gaming culture, which should be remembered as long as possible, so many more in the future may enjoy it...




...Until we release Minecraft 2! Hand over your 69$ people for a totally unrelated to the original first person shooter game that has nothing to do with creativity or building, and everything to do with Call of Duty, Halo, and Skype!

I see Minecraft as the modern equivalent of Pac-man/ Donkey Kong, it may not be as popular in 10 years, but people will still remember it and play it, and there are the simple noobs playing it to just build that basic crappy wood house like we all built once back in the days of alpha/ beta.

 

Not true, apparently the last time they talked about how many concurrent players were on Minecraft, 50% were playing single-player.

1.9 will revive the mc singleplayer, giving it major improvements.

 

I hightly recommend you to play some modpacks. All I can say is that the modpacks that are worth the most to play are Tekkit, Crash Landind, and Attack Of The B-Team. At least for me, it's much more fun to play the technical element of the modpacks, so I personally wouldn't suggest you Crazy Craft.

I highly recommend you to learn those mods.

 

On the gaming side of things, Minecraft is still alive with a healthy beating heart, on the YouTube and media side...not so much. Remember when Minecraft was this mysterious new game everyone was talking about and made Minecraft YouTubers who they are? Now, everyone's done that "Minecraft Survival Lets Play", and that "Mega Modded Minecraft LP" and such. Minecraft has run dry with things to do, and so it's dying on YouTube because anything has already been done 10 times, and all Minecraft is now is an RP Base. *cough* SkyDoesMinecraft *cough*. Even YouTubers like AntVenom and ChimneySwift gained the most popularity in their prime, but have now died as Minecraft on YouTube has. It's sad to say, but unless Minecraft 1.9 adds something that really rocks the community and restarts the Minecraft YouTube heart, I think Minecraft on YouTube is half dead, and heading to oblivion altogether.

As I said at the beginning, I don't think Minecraft as a game is going to die any time soon. Minecraft is that game. With new features on the way in 1.9, I'm sure it'll keep going for at the bare minimum, 2 more years touchwood.

I guess at one point no one will play Minecraft anymore because well people are starting to get obsessed with first-person shooters. But Minecraft will never be forgotten. Minecraft is a legend. Minecraft gives each individual player a good story to tell. Minecraft gave Adam Dahlberg a chance to start a new life. Minecraft is literally the most viewed game on YouTube. Minecraft is so simply legendary that I'm even lost for words. (<Epic Speech lol)

Conclusion = The date of Minecraft's death is when Notch left us and yeah... Bill... Gates... Yeh... Lol...
