    Wait. Hang on.

This means the Queen was straight up lying to Soosu. She never could have followed through on her promise except by executing her.

She's a Scion for Light trying to stop the Decay. The Decay is not in Eastern Gavel and can't even pass through so there is no worry there. She's essentially too busy trying to fix the mess she left for herself. This is the one Lari slander I disagree with because like, thats not her responsibility to deal with the Colossus

Considering the Queen ended their deal before the deadline was even due, I'm pretty sure the Queen just said that to force Soosu to actually work on it and not destroy it.

I also just think the way Orphion treats the player is so wildly different to how Lari is supposedly treated it just makes the entire dynamic weird - We get instructions and explicit denial of the Pacifism, while Lari apparently gets the complete opposite. Like did he only discover communication in 1000AP? why not 200 or 400 years ago when she could fight the Parasite.

It was my understanding, though, that when a Sovereign passes on their position to the next person, their blessing (aka Scionness) is transferred as well.

The exact mechanics are never specified, but I don't think the blessing is actively transferred. Sovereign Rieke thought that Gale could have her same blessing; it could be genetic, but I find it more likely that the Queen comes up with what blessing to give herself. (How does she do that? Lari and Bak'al's powers both strongly theme after their respective Realms. How does the Queen make such variant, non-Warlike scions? Are we working on Worm rules, with all of these being repurposed combat abilities?)

Deusphage has said that Scion power can't be revoked once given. If we restrain ourselves to the text, this is difficult to infer; it's possible that the Queen's inability to revoke Zhiraok and Bak'al's abilities is just because they're not physically next to her. But surely Orphion could have tricked Lari into getting close enough to get her powers swiped. If Scion power revoking requires a consenting Scion, and/or a physically present one, it's possible that the deal with Soosu is in fact possible - but her blessing couldn't be directly transferred, just copied.

I think what you've imagined here is that the blessings are hereditary. They aren't. Rieke-Gale, a direct familial relationship, is the only time the idea is brought up. The blessings are extremely specific; they're not only tied to personality, but outright to physical qualities. Zhiraok's time-control looks extremely similar to his family amulet, which predates him and which just Also has time powers. Gikyo's blessing is to be able to copy powers, which is specifically an add-on to their natural changeling abilities. Tasim doesn't have anyone to inherit from, his position was made up on the spot, extremely blatant in the University SD.

Oh, wait, I just remembered. Rieke abdicated. If she wasn't secretly executed that indicates it is probably just a matter of getting the Scion to sit still and ripping out the blessing.

To be fair, we don't get to Eastern Gavel until after RoL V, so Lari can't really join us. I assume she's been to Eastern Gavel in the past, but since the Decay never spread there, she hasn't done anything particularly important that's come up in the lore.
Also I assumed Lari wasn't really paying attention to issues other than the Decay (Since Orphion likely doesn't care either), which is why she didn't help out with the Colossus.

Does that not imply that all of Fruma's previous previous sovereigns kept portions of Anathema's powers until the grave? Zhi didn't loose his powers after his death (or so I understand, tbf we didn't see much of him after the dam sequence).

Oops, I did not see that comment. Pretty much my point...

Would that not also imply that there is a required successor waiting for the potential death of a sovereign at all times?
