I just failed a lootrun at 40 minutes in because the game wouldn't let me play.
For context, I had just taken the Side Hustle trial (Until you open 30 chests, starting, completing or failing a challenge will set your timer to 75 seconds).
Usually completing this trial is not an issue; however today the game decided that it didn't want me to play so it kept me with my face against a wall unable to move with my inputs registering 20 to 30 seconds later until I failed the lootrun.
Now you might think I should have expected lag because there was Annihilation earlier, but not only did I switch to a new server before starting the lootrun, I also waited around 30 minutes after it ended to start lootrunning. Oh, and of course Annihilation was completely unplayable for me as I was essentially unable to do anything until I died, but I wasn't expecting anything else from it.
The issue is that you cannot have both a gamplay mode that requires 2+ hours of uninterrupted gameplay and a game that every once in a while decides that you're not allowed to play for a while. I know that Fruma brought a bunch of lag issues and they are being worked on but this existed even before Fruma, even if maybe was not as bad. I did fail challenges and outright failed one other lootrun because of random 30 seconds or more lagspikes and it happens often enough that I don't want to lootrun anymore at all.
Before you comment that, yes I did check and my internet was still working fine while lagging (I could alt+tab and play a youtube video no problems while the game was not working) and the couple of times where it was actually my internet that wasn't working aren't a factor in this post. I also am sure it is a lag issue and not a performance issue becaus the game was being rendered fine, FPS were not dropping and the only thing that didn't work were the inputs being delayed and me being teleported back to where I was every 4-5 seconds.
Is there no way at all to fix this other than having me phisically move next to the servers? I know that lag is not an issue that will probably be ever completely solved but can we not have some kind of compensation in game for it? For instance, if the game detects that you're in a lootrun and you're heavily lagging, it could "pause" you (aka you don't deal or take damage and can't move but also the timer doesn't decease) so that you can use /lobby to change server or wait for it to be over without being mauled by mobs or just being timed out.
Ofc this wouldn't be applicable to other gamemodes but failing a raid is a 15 min time loss at worst so it's not that big of a deal.

The team is working as hard as they can to fix lag issues with Fruma, I think it's important for us to be lenient given it came out barely a week ago. Though it's unfortunate that this happened to you, bear in mind that disconnecting from the server and the /class command will pause your lootrun.

I know this isn't your intention but this effectively is just "I am gatekeeping Minecraft servers from having longer content because they can lag"

Anyways, as mentioned above, it doesn't need to be "2+ hours of uninterrupted gameplay". You are able to pause it at any time.
