    Corruption can both refer to the force from the War of Realms, or political corruption. I'm going to assume the latter, due to the mention of aristocrats, which makes me think of Gavel, thank you to Culp for reminding me of the Dark Forest upper class families with your awesome post.

    I guess since nobody else has posted, only three things have been corrupted by entering the portal, one of them being Theorick, who is sort of an aristocrat (I mean he has two mansions)

    Correct! The 'aristocrats' red herring refers to the crystal aristocrat mob which spawned in the Past Heart of Selchar.
