Whilst it's not 'outdated' content, I'd say that so many ingredients and other items having the same texture feels kinda odd, especially when you look at how gorgeous and varied the mobs and builds are, plus the incredible new VFX, GUIs and lots of other bits too! Then in comparison, there's like 6 different ingredients that each look like Minecraft bonemeal or slime balls, or things like that.
Hopefully they add some more unique sprites in the future.

Quite frankly, you can't separate art from the artist. The artist made the art. The artist's biases and beliefs are going to be in the art. Even a stick figure is political, because what pronouns you instinctively use to describe the figure indicates who you think is the 'default' in society.

Also, all money spent on Harry Potter goes to funding lethal oppression in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, so.

Besides that, like... it's a quest 100% composed of references with little gameplay and little broader lore and story. It's Just Harry Potter, which, as mentioned in the thread, is not really what modern Wynn aims to do. I think the idea of the Magic School In The Sea could be done well, but you'd need to gut the quest and redo it from the ground up. (Ocean update when)

I partially agree with this idea of cognitive dissonance, but it really sucks to see positive references to a hateful person whose personal vendetta happens to line up with a significant portion of the community. In fact, by referencing Harry Potter at all the game is taking a political stance. If removing the quest would be a political decision, keeping it in the game is just as.

I understand you have a mostly positive experience of this, but not only is it pure offensive to people like me and others, it is completely RIDICULOUS to pretend that having a random Harry Potter reference at all enhances 'the development of [this] fictional world'.

I think there is a misunderstanding here, I do not by any means whatsoever think a random Harry Potter reference enhances the world, in fact I think the exact polar opposite. I want Grookwarts gone completely which I've expressed a couple times, but my point was that there are a great many genuine reasons to remove it that actually relate to the game itself, and "JK Rowling is bad" should be at the bottom of that list because it doesn't even relate to Wynncraft, and when developing a video game, that video game itself should be the first priority.

In general I really hate the old "reference = funny" humor that Wynncraft used to have and I'm glad they've removed most of it since it makes the world of Wynncraft look like a parody rather than something to be taken seriously as a setting.

It doesn't. My message wasn't really even about Grookwarts specifically. The first part of it was just me saying that random references are extremely dumb and out of place, while also being outdated (I used the Maiden Tower and the old Tower of Amnesia as examples of this in addition to Grookwarts), and the second part is that one should separate art from the artist.

Maybe we should make a dedicated thread for OotG discussion, because OP seems to not want it here, and it feels like something that warrants an official staff response and not just Deusphage speaking individually (for the record I mostly agree with her but it doesn’t really matter what I feel)

    Ok so different topic
    uhh...
I've seen it been requested years ago but not specifically on this thread (yet), but what would secret discoveries for the ocean even look like? The level range is huge, there is no over-arching lore/plot besides "the mages calmed down the waters 100 years ago", making an ultimate discovery hard to imagine, and besides "how does one summon a Dern beast egg" and "are there signs of corruption spreading into the ocean", I'm not sure there are any major, unanswered lore questions

they said there'll be more secret discoveries with Fruma, so I think the ocean might get stuff
how cohesive that will be remains to be seen

I hope so, the ocean is in the most literal way possible wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle, in my opinion the most outdated content in the game.

I think the ocean update will come once they finally update everything to 1.21 with new blocks and updated build limit (which I think in new updates is uncapped on servers)

Corkus City and Corkus in general is such a relic of the slab spam building style I'm surprised it hasn't been updated in the 9 years of its existence

I'd like for the Ocean's main gameplay to be actually IN the ocean, with the ocean being heavily expanded downwards with the build limit increase to include various biomes, caves, etc all of which are underwater with new unique underwater mechanics specifically made for Wynncraft that would make it not only feasible but genuinely fun to explore the ocean.
In essence, I want the Ocean to actually feel like the province that the map would have players believe it to be instead of just a collection of small islands with barely any good content.
