I did it on all my classes that I was leveling up through quests (3 classes). It’s not that timeconsuming compared to smth like Dark Descent

Yeah, the problem is not the quest itself, it's that the quest is mostly a collection of references (which the game in general seems to try and avoid nowadays), and references to Harry Potter at that. The format (picking classes, with their own puzzles + challenges) is still a bit enjoyable to play through (source: me, I just did it yesterday), but the HP mentions suck, and I'm pretty sure there's also some lore in it in need of revision? I'm sure it's on their list though

The author of HP decided to flush their reputation down the toilet, and having such a blatant reference to somebody so blegh is not exactly desirable. Aside from that though, it isn't too relevant to Mage Island, despite being the only quest there, and there's a few instances of dialogue that are a tad eyebrow raising, mentioned earlier in the thread.

Anyways, the problem I have with Grookwarts is that it's literally just there to be a Harry Potter reference. It's the same problem I have with the Maiden Tower where it really is nothing more than a "haha funny reference xD" with almost nothing more than that. Yeah there's a bit of lore in those quests but it's like the old Tower of Amnesia where every little bit of lore is completely undercut by "lol Avatar reference", making the player question if Legally Distinct Shrek™ or Legally Distinct Hogwarts™ is even canon to the lore of Wynncraft.

Also I feel like it needs to be said that art should be separated from the artist. I by all means support removing or revamping Grookwarts but out of every single reason that should be done, "JK Rowling sucks" is at the absolute bottom of the list. I never read the books but the movies were a pretty big part of my personal childhood and they are still to this day amazing movies regardless of what side of the political spectrum you're on. And just in general, real-world politics shouldn't heavily dictate the development of a fictional world.

Look, it's painfully clear that your stance on the quest is exclusively based on your own political bias, and the fact that Grookwarts is a poor quest with a poor premise is clearly second in line to just "JK Rowling sucks". But whether you like it or not, you're a game developer. Wynncraft is a video game with a fictional world, and it is your job to make that world believable in the eyes of the player and most importantly, fun. So if the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of outdated content that people dislike is "It's bad because of JK Rowling" rather than looking at its genuine flaws that can be addressed, then that's a serious problem. Political bias should never overrule the passion of creation.

... It's really not. Someone asked about why the quest was 'weird', so I brought up the reason why it's frowned upon by a lot of players & CT. If I was asked to list what I dislike with the quest, it would just be a single point, not some thesis statement like you seem to think it'd be. The way the player goes about picking a one-time valuable quest reward is incredibly vague, some dialogue could really use some tweaks (namely the species class), Gameplay wise, the quest is almost entirely reading dialogue while sitting in a chair, interrupted by having to follow a slow moving NPC or doing not-super-engaging puzzles, and the entire premise isn't inspired so much as it's just a blatant reference with almost all of its elements. You say "it's your job to make that world believable in the eyes of the player", but I would argue suddenly having Just Harry Potter in the middle of the game is incredibly immersion breaking.

Is it the worst quest ever? Absolutely not. It's pretty passable, but it's carried very hard by the player going 'aha! i know what this is referencing'. Is it likely that it'll be given a makeover at some point? Given that a good deal of other HP references (like Volmor) being removed or changed into other things, probably.
... I also think it's generally weird to act as if ideology is not an incredibly crucial element in producing artwork, regardless of the medium. There's a reason "all art is political" is a phrase. The world we are writing is shaped by our beliefs - I thought that was painfully obvious by the fact that we include Evil queer & nonbinary Wokeness in the game
