Skillpoints on builds?

I'm searching for a good build but many of them have negative skill point requirements. I was wondering how these were useable despite not having enough skill points to use the gear? It's just really annoying having to sort through builds that I can't use.

 

It’s possible you’re looking at old builds that are outdated or if it’s like -1 or -2 then a tome will fix it

 

What tomes fix the skillpoint differences?

Guild tomes. These give either +4 in one skill, +2 in 2 skills, or +1 in all 5 skills.
You can receive them while in a guild, specific requirements differ based on the guild.

 

How do you get the tomes while in a guild/what's the easiest way to get them from a guild? I'm seeing on the wiki that you get them from guild wars, but I have not a clue about that side of the game.

 

A bit further in the wiki's paragraph on guild tomes it is also stated "Guild Tomes are received from guild members completing their Weekly Objective...". Weekly objectives are an 'upgraded' version of daily objectives, which are unlocked on joining a guild and reset every 7 days. A guild can obtain guild tomes when a certain amount of weekly objectives are completed by guild members. When obtained, it is up to higher ranking members of the guild to decide when to hand them out and to whom.

My recommended strategy for obtaining guild tomes would be to join a smaller active community guild and participate in the next weekly objective. After a weekly objective milestone is reached, ask for one of the tomes to be granted to you. No guarantees tho!
