It's also just worth saying Shares will go up in price with the added perks. In fact, being able to buy ranks is such a big deal, I sorta expect them to sky rocket in price.

 

Share price will decrease. Currently, 1 share on the live servers will be 5 shares with the new system.
I do think we should be aware of how much players value an individual share emerald wise though. Ideally it won't take an excessive amount of money for a first time player to access the features of VIP after a full playthrough

All the changes look really cool. Idk about the Ability point loaning though because it sounds like it give an advantage to certain players if in hunted mode or dueling at any level below max. Honestly you still get most ability points early on in the game so I don't see the appeal to getting them even earlier. Pet level change is pretty W though. Same with buying ranks with shares.

 

I guess that's up to discussion. For starters they would probably still be worth around the same even after being converted to 5 shares, since their value is also being reduced to being 5 times cheaper. I guess more people would be willing to sell their shares, and there would be more demand since people will want to get ranks for free with the new way class slots are going to work. I don't know that much about economy and I haven't seen this kind of change happen in any server I played, but I wouldn't be surprised if the value of each share remained largely the same, perharps a bit lower. Even so, it's hard to imagine these shares going for less than a stack of LE given their current prices.
And if you took the current value of the shares (their dollar value at the store), you would need 2 of them to get VIP without any discounts. Considering the current prices in the trade market, you're making any new player need to fork over at least 3 stacks of LE, almost 4, to be able to make a couple extra classes, something that is completely free and basically has been since the server went live.

 

All of those changes stack for Hero pretty badly. Saggi nerf, Keracotunus nerf, Revenant nerf, Hero itself nerf, airshout nerf, intoxicating blood nerf, Fallen aspect nerf... I think we'll be going back to battlemonk, now. Which is fine for me, but I liked Hero having the option to use all the archetypes rather effortlessly.

Also considering how controversial it was to nerf rally, its ironic that you guys are buffing it back to what it was and changing your minds about it. It kinda shows the IM just run their mouth all the time defending decisions they aren't even that sure of, to begin with. But players won't forget that quickly that we told y'all to buff it back and yall turned a blind eye.

The only interesting thing for me about the update are the 27 new aspects, testing if Singularity doesn't sucks anymore with the buffed Orbital Chain and the new major id for Idol...

I opened Discord, and saw that all people were talking about that "this is a p2w update" or "update that will ruin wynncraft" and a "massive cashgrab". And although I think removal of class slots should be reverted and earlier ap should be removed for hunted, I can't belive how many people are ignorant and overreacting. These very minor p2w changes won't affect 90% of players, but will keep the server alive. People that say (mostly joking but still) that salted will buy a yacht with this money, and that he is greedy, don't understand how expensive is it to run a server with 1500 people + pay 30 developers that work on the server. Not to mention that 99% of servers are WAY much more p2w than wynncraft will ever be, and include straight up gambling and other scummy tactics, when wynncraft just makes you get few ap earlier. I am not saying that all this changes are good, but people are going to harsh on devs.

I am kinda ashamed of wynncraft community, it was way less toxic few just years ago.
This update is overall great imo, trickster rework is better than I anticipated and new GUIs and cosmetic are fire. Love from me to all devs <3 and thx for this amazing update.

take a shot every time wynncraft adds a minor QOL feature as a rank perk

price decrease will be meaningless when you need to buy 5x more to do anything

I'd expect some relative increase in price due to psychological reasons (someone might not pay 2.5 stacks for one share but might not notice buying 5 1/5th shares at .5 stacks each)

 

This feels like reading a book and all the emotions it has left on me is the pain to redo all my builds

Gameplay changes look good, as has frequently been the case with Wynncraft in the past couple of years. Monetization changes are so-so, I definitely do think that rankless players should start with more class slots though, considering a full run usually does not leave a new player with more than a stack or two of spare LE, if even that much.

 

Meanwhile I'm a level 50 Assassin just casually selling any ingredients, keys, set equipment worth selling on the trade market. I play Wynncraft on the weekends doing quests and exploring while during the week I login twice a day to just fill my Trade Market slots. I bought a Chestnut Horse and 1x Silverbull share to get 5 Crates. All in July so far.

I'm sure if a low level casual player like me can manage that, once you reach level 100+ you could easily sell stuff for stacks of LE.

I definitely feel like new players should have 5 slots so they can play through every class without having to delete a character. That and VIP not giving any extra slots sits poorly with me; it feels like a way to try to upsell to VIP+.

Also, riftwalker nerf? Seriously?

 

Honestly, with this update, I'm just excited that the Wynn team is paying attention to the game again! I know the idea of locking the Fruman gate behind a couple hundred more Champion subscriptions is kind of radical for some people, but I'm doing my part! I can't wait to spend half of my savings this month rolling for the new store-exclusive mythics!

 

So true. Doesn't change that reducing the amount of class slots is ass though. It doesn't even affect me as I've already bought HERO a long time ago, but I think it is absolute ass just like the sheer amount of P2W crap the update adds.

I understand monetization is important and I do believe the money is going to the right places because these past few updates have indeed been crazy in scale, polish and content compared to pre-silverbull ones, but the monetization has been getting way too scummy lately. I agree with the subscription model existing and I never complained about it, but this does feel like too much.

Pay2Wynn: The Cash Grab Update

 

tl;dr, The gameplay changes are sick as hell and I'm super happy to see, but some(not all) of the monetization changes are kinda concerning.

This is the big one, even if you can delete things faster not having enough slots for every class is kinda scary

Another kinda worrying change. Idk where to start with this one but changing progression for ppl with ranks like this doesn't feel fair

Okay so wynncraft 1-105 speedruns are pretty rare but these entirely kill them. I get the idea of it being similar (but less drastic) to story skips in WoW and FFXIV but I'm not sure they fit in wynncraft too well.

I honestly really respect how you guys have been handling monetization. Even though some stuff is a bit weird, comparing it to ANY other big mc servers or mmorpgs really makes wynn look good.

Trickster changes are super cool too, looks like the new one will have a lot more depth while still retaining its niche of a more defensive and supportive archetype, which is why I like it to begin with :D

OH SHIT FR??? That makes this a lot less bad but still could be a problem potentially if people overvalue shares because of this. Currently I (and I assume many others) have no interest in buying shares on the market board since I'm happy with what I have, but I imagine many people are going to care about them very quickly.
