Issue Moving Items Using Number Keys

I've tried moving items in my inventory to a chest or even to a different slot in my inventory by hovering over the item, or the slot I want to move the item to, and then pressing a number key to move it, but this isn't working. How do I fix this?

 

Not fixable, you'll have to move them manually with mouse.
You can shift click potions, emeralds, and ingredients to automatically put them in your pouch / potion stack

 

ah yes, the case of "not a bug, just a feature"

 

I'm pretty sure it's genuinely a feature to prevent some exploits.
