It's not really "worded weirdly", it's worded quite literally and clearly to imply that there are more than 3 realms of influence, and that you just have to know those 3. If that's not the case and the lore is different then this dialogue is incorrect and needs to be changed.

But what about the several other realms we visit? Charon's monotone place is never referred to by name (but it might just be Death's Realm) and Slykaar's slime place is referred to as a "dimension", but Death's Realm is quite literally called, well, Death's Realm. That's the literal name of the area, and the discovery lore explicitly reads, "Devoid of color, all the souls of the dead will make their way to here, the realm of the dead."
Are none of these places realms of influence? I mean, Slykaar's Dimension I can understand not being one but Death's Realm has to be heavily connected to the physical plane since it's where all souls go, so what else would it be other than a realm of influence?

Between the RoL IV dialogue and the many realms we visit, it seems remarkably unclear what is or isn't a realm of influence, or what even defines a realm being a realm of influence.

 

good question. First, I agree there could be more than 3 with WHAT WE HAVE RIGHT NOW, but at the same time...
First, slykaar isnt a realm, its obviously just a magical pocket dimension powered by spirit death magic.

Death's realm/charon lore is complicated! I have been working on a theory, but here is the TL:DR.
there are 3-5 important characters.
First you have fake death on TOA. That isnt that weird, just a powerful faker.
Second, another fake death whos described in item lore (i think Necrosis). While item lore isn't canon, it could just be another faker.
Then, charon. Originally, charon was an actual incarnation of death, but I don't think he is anymore.
Then, DEATH. Obviously, DEATH is the real thing, but there is something else to think of.
The Seer, Envoy, and Guide. They are confirmed to be WORKING FOR DEATH, and it seems like the Beyond is some sort of projection near Death's Realm. It is weird, if Death allows souls out, to want them back, but whatever. The issue is that the Seer, Envoy, and Guide DONT EXIST! they are just stories written by Aster, who has no connection to Death (obviously to death, but not to the entity Death) as far as we know. At the same time, we are doing something good for Death by bringing the spirits back, because the spirits are obviously real dead characters (at least by level 105).

The best answer is that Charon is like Slykaar, he is a powerful necromancer, and his "realm" is just a magical vision.
Death itself is indeed a powerful entity, and the Beyond is actually a real place near Death's Realm. Even though the Envoy et al aren't real, Death still could recruit their apparitions, and we are actually bringing spirits back.
For the question of whether it is a Realm of Influence, I think not. Death is an force of nature, sure, but it exists beyond and below the Light and Dark. For one thing, I think the Beasts have power over Death (im not sure though), but both of them definitely USE it. The main reason Death isn't a Realm of Influence is that...it does not have Influence. Maybe the twain graveyard is its spot/realm portal, but that is not in the game yet, and so far Death seems to be like Falcor, just a powerful entity.

 

There's only three realms of influence. These other locations just use "realm" in the same way you'd use "dimension" or "world".

tbf, ROL 4 does go against her. I think she should talk to someone about changing ROL 4. I am not saying she is wrong, I am saying, believe it or not, that the QUEST may be misleading

 

Yeah the guardian's dialogue could use a tweak or two.
