TLDR - Garvan mistreats Katarin and their daughter Eileen horribly, so "Uniting the couple" at the end feels weird.

In "Hollow Serenity", after helping Katarin pass on, you have to bury her with her former lover Garvan together. Once you do that, a little flower pops up on the mould and everything seems resolved.

Except Garvan treats Katarin and their daughter Eileen fairly horribly.

To begin, he forcefully injected Eileen with the dern parasite. Whatever his intentions are, that's forcing your own daughter to be a human test subject.

He also entrap Katarin's spirit with the gemstone for about two centuries, and from her reaction one may derive she does not enjoy the torment. Garvan also refuses to take responsibility for the suffering he brought to Katarin and Eileen, only empty apologies without action as he tries to bury and ignore it all behind him.

And once the player help Katarin broke free, Garvan tries to imprison her. He gives no consideration of Katarin's will, only his.

(All this discounts him indirectly leading to Katarin's death and directly to Eileen's kidnapping, given he was forced to do so.)

This is not an attack on Garvan's character. He's an interesting villain, sympathetic and irredeemable at once.

Just the fact the player "Reunite" them is done with approval come off as odd to me.

    What do you guys think?

I think the thought behind it was that Garvan and Katarin did sincerely love each other. Garvan was a normal guy, but was brought to madness by the cult organization and his encounters with forces beyond his understanding, leaving him a husk of his former self, who Katarin ultimately abandons. In burying their bodies, it's externalizing the love they had for each other before things crumbled into ruin, of no real fault of either.

Just as a zombie of someone isn't really that person, I think The Wanderer isn't really Garvan. He's not the man she fell in love with, and much like a zombie, he turned into a very literal monster through an outside force.
It's complicated. It's messy. I think the best option would be giving the player the choice to bury them together or not, then you can decide what you think is best with how you feel. Neither are around to have any say in the matter anymore.

Yeas! For a quest with so
Much choice; there should be choice. Reward is the same though, maybe have that “village destroyed” event be changed
