But through the gruesome environment and the unforgiving enemies, they bear the curse that many had toiled...
To be born a craftsman in a world where they have to walk alone.
To be a craftsman, one must accept the countless hours at the mines, the woods, the farms, and the docks. To be a craftsman, one must scour the corners of the world for ingredients to make the equipment that their cursed body will accept. With every advancement in level, progression slows. The mind, body, and environment wither away as these cursed beings shamble around, mindlessly swinging their axe to turn an entire tree into a single sheet of paper.
This is a fate that no soldier should have to experience.

And this is why the Rogue took their stand. This is their protest.
They will bear their curse yet will refuse to engage with professions.

General Information​

The ic-c challenge, allegedly created by Linnyflower, reqires the player to play on ironman and craftsman. Furthermore, the player's gathering and crafting profession levels are limited to Lv. 1. The craftsman gamemode restricts player's equipment and consumables to crafted items only, while ironman limits the player from many interactions with other players, such as trading, receiving healing and buffs, and, to a certain extent, loot-sharing from kills.

This effectively restricts the player's weapon and armor options to mandatory Quest items, and prevents them from acquiring the much-needed buffs or crafteds from other players.

So, now, where does the challenge come from?

Good question.

The Experience: an Overview​

There is a certain freedom that comes with the restriction of choices. However, the gear that ic-c players are allowed to use are, in order of level...
Tosach (lv. 1, tutorial)
Oak wood weapons (lv. 1)
Elemental training weapons (lv. 11, from Elemental Exercise quest)
Creeper Mask (lv. 25, from Creeper Infiltration quest)
Climbing Helmet (lv. 40, from Ice Nations quest)
Ghostly Cap (lv. 49, from The House of Twain quest)
Abysso Golashes (lv. 60, from Beneath the Depths quest)
Helmet of the Legends (lv. 68, from Temple of the Legends quest)
Purified Helmet of the Legends (lv. 68, from Temple of the Legends quest)

And that's it! A simple, linear progression.
Throughout the journey, one must become familiar with a low rate of mana regen and a lack of healing.
Near the beginning, you are a ferocious glass cannon with a weapon overpowered for your level. You will receive buffs as you progress, making the process slightly more manageable. But, the lack of equipment will catch up to you in the late-game, making battles seem hardly fair. One will get used to walking around with 4.8k ehp and 10k max dps and learn to use whatever tool their kit provides.

Oh, and finally, one will learn to be patient.

Sealed in Ice (Secret Discovery - Requires mining but I'm protesting against current prof system)
The Doguns' Defeat (Ultimate Discovery - Requires Sealed in Ice)

Last but not least: Every Gathering Miniquest. Duh.

Thanks! I wish some other quests or discoveries can be completed too, like Aldorei's secret or Sealed in Ice. But since both of those had that one step where prof or prof experience is unavoidable, I'll be boycotting them.

I'm never gonna do HUICH-C. HUIC-C alone is already an in(s)ane challenge, let along allowing myself to be hunted.

 

my question is
if this challenge is possible, showing that you can do any combat with arbitrarily bad gear, with sufficient skill...
why not trying to beat WC with just the tosach and oak wood weapon?

 

having the weird quest gear and stuff makes it more fun & there's no way to prove you didn't use those items since they aren't restricted from ic-c. unlocking them as u lvl or wtvr is like a cool part of ic-c

also ngl maybe I should get back to it ......

 

I don't think a single CT would be content with profs never getting changed

 

So I did this until level 80 on warrior, you technically can just skip beneath the depths and temple of the legends quests to not get the armor and elemental exercise to skip the weapon but they do lock out a lot of future quests too because of prereqs making it feel less complete. The other problem is you can get ghostly cap without any way of preventing yourself from doing that so at the very minimum you would have oak wood spear and ghostly cap, which is actually significant because of the raw spell it provides.
