I might want to share my own ideas, so don't steal my thunder, but you do seem way better at this than me, so I'm not saying you shouldn't steal the ideas. I just want to make fun art along with basic concepts.

Overview
The Swordsman is a class that uses a Sword and Shield as its weapon. Unlike the other melee classes, it has a base resistance of 80%, taking 20% more damage like the Mage class.

The Swordsman's donator exclusive skin would be the Swashbuckler, changing the spells to look more aquatic and pirate-like.

The Sword

The Sword is obviously what the Swordsman uses for its Main Attack. It has range in between a Spear and a Dagger, aside from that it's pretty self explanatory.

The Shield

The Shield is what could be considered the Swordsman's special gimmick. You can raise your shield by pressing and holding SNEAK, raising your shield makes you take 33% less damage from all sources while active.

You can only have your shield up for at most 5 seconds, and it has a cooldown of double however long you held it up for.

While your Shield is up, you cannot use your Main Attack or cast Spells. (This does not affect powder specials as you can still Left-Click while Sneaking to activate them)

Spells

Swing
Click Combo: RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT
Swing a large sword in front of you, doing a large amount of damage in a large area.
Mana Cost: 35

Self explanatory.

Shield Surf
Click Combo: RIGHT-RIGHT-RIGHT
Get put on top of your shield and propelled forward, allowing you to surf on your shield after the initial boost.
(Press sneak while atop your shield to dismount)
Mana Cost: 30

VERY similar to the shield surfing system from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This might be a coder's worst nightmare, but I think it's really cool.

While on your shield, you can use your Main Attack, but using other spells doesn't do anything. (At least right now in progression winking emoji)

Combat Stance
Click Combo: RIGHT-RIGHT-LEFT
Either doubles the damage of your next spell cast, or doubles the bonus resistance from your shield the next time you raise it.
Mana Cost: 50

Self explanatory, but I would like to mention that you cannot stack the damage/resistance bonus by using this ability multiple times before attacking/raising your shield.

Throwing Knife
Click Combo: RIGHT-LEFT-LEFT
Throws a infinitely piercing knife in front of you that disappears after a few seconds.
Mana Cost: 35

Ability Tree
The Ability Tree for the Swordsman features three archetypes: the Tactician, the Vehicle Master, and the Parrier.

Tactician
Tacticians used a variety of charged attacks to demolish any foe. (Delayed Damage, CC)

Difficulty: Medium

Damage: High

Defense: Medium

Range: Medium

Speed: Low

Notable Tactician Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

Tipper
Hitting an enemy with the very end of Swing's range will do extra damage.

Double Knife
When casting Throwing Knife, throw a second knife shortly after the first.

Wind Up
Holding SNEAK for 3 seconds will make you Charged, casting Throwing Knife while Charged will make it do extra damage and will throw 4 knives in all directions

Blood Stains
Casting Throwing Knife while Charged will do +0.5% damage for every 1% health the enemy doesn't have.

Knife-a-rang
Throwing Knife will return to you instead of disappearing, allowing it to deal even more damage.

Vehicle Master
Vehicle Masters use a wide range of vehicles that get stronger over time for anything they could need! (Versatility, Vehicles)

Difficulty: Easy

Damage: Medium

Defense: High

Range: Medium

Speed: Medium

Notable Vehicle Master Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

Speed Bump
Running into an enemy while riding a vehicle will damage the enemy, and boost the speed of your vehicle for 3s.

Drive-By
Hitting an enemy with your Main Attack while riding your Shield will do increased damage.

Corkian Cruiser
Casting Swing while riding a vehicle puts you in a Corkian Mech Suit that throws a punch in front of you when you use your Main Attack.

Food Truck
Casting Combat Stance while riding a vehicle puts you in a Wagon that drops bread around you. This bread boosts the damage of anybody that picks it up by +10% for 10s.

You are unable to use your Main Attack while in the Wagon, but you take 33% less damage from all sources while in it.

Self Destruct
Dismounting a vehicle will cause it to explode, doing large damage to any enemies near it.

Acceleration
Every 3s on your vehicle gives you +1 Accelerated, boosting its damage and speed. (Max 10)
(Accelerated resets if you dismount or swap vehicles)

Explosive Swap
Self Destruct activates when swapping vehicles.

Second Seat
Expands your vehicles to allow 1 ally to ride with you, adding extra offensive elements for vehicles that attack.

Burnout
Self Destruct's explosion and ash pile damage now increases depending on your Accelerated when activating it.
(Accelerated resets if you dismount or swap vehicles)

More Accelerated
Increases your maximum Accelerated by +5.

Turret
Casting Throwing Knife while riding a vehicle puts you in a Turret that shoots fast but low damage knives where you're looking you use your Main Attack.

Pre-Accelerated - When swapping vehicles, keep 20% of your current Accelerated.
Third Seat - Increases the amount of extra seats you get from Second Seat by +1.
Airship - Casting Shield Surf while on your Shield or any other vehicle puts you in an Airship that lets you freely fly around at the cost of not being able to use your Main Attack.
Faster Acceleration - Decreases time on your vehicle needed to gain Accelerated by -1s.

Parrier
Parriers precisely raise their shield when about to be attacked to turn the tides of battle and set their enemies up for an early grave. (Support, High Risks)

Difficulty: Hard

Damage: High

Defense: Low

Range: Medium

Speed: High

Notable Parrier Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

Immovable Object
Having your Shield up makes you immune to knockback.

Parry
Raising your Shield 1s or faster before an enemy hits you will Parry their attack, stunning them for 3s.

Landing a successful Parry will give you +1 Rage for 10s, boosting the range and damage of Swing and Corkian Cruiser. (Max 5)

Parry Streak
Landing a successful Parry will get rid of your next shield cooldown.

Clash
Hitting an enemy with your Main Attack or Corkian Cruiser either 0.25s before or 0.25s after it hits you will Parry their attack.

Primed Parry
All debuffs and buff durations from Parry are doubled if Combat Stance is used before it.

Call For Backup
Landing a successful Parry will summon an Elemental Fist (Max 2) that punches an enemy every 0.2s.

Here's something to note:
4th spells (right left left) have a cc / defense tool in them, while throwing knife is just ice snake without slow.
Otherwise 3rd melee class and shield surf!

Counterargument: Not all 4th spells use RIGHT-LEFT-LEFT, (mage uses r-r-l for ice snake, and archer uses l-l-r which is basically r-r-l, for arrow shield) also Combat Stance is the 4th spell, and I'd say it's pretty defensive thanks to that sweet shield resistance bonus

4th spell refers to the original 4th spell before 2.0, so ice snake, arrow shield, war scream, uproot, smoke bomb. All of these are RRL or LLR (archer). similarly, 3rd spell (damage spell) is RLL, 2nd is RRR (movement), 1st is RLR (general combat spell)

sword class is just quirky like that also I've played pre 2.0 like once and it was a mage i got to like level 40 on

Hold up a minute. Don't assassins have swords (You can not tell me stuff like Hanafubuki doesn't get considered a sword. It's long, got a crosspiece. I know it says "dagger" but it's clearly a sword. And don't give me junk about how things like Grimtrap are considered daggers either. This is the definition of a dagger "a short knife with a pointed and edged blade, used as a weapon." I don't see no blade nor edge on Grimtrap.")

Sorry i confused it. All 4th spells are rrl, llr for archer, but yeah they are either defensive or cc
