I've been messing around with minecraft performance and rendering mods, and I just want to verify that Distant Horizons is allowed to be used on the server since its client side and doesnt change actual gameplay.

Distant Horizons is in short, a mod that allows for an infinite render distance.

It utilizes a common feature in games with large maps called Level of Detail, or LOD for short. When used on a server, the mod is only able to save already generated chunks locally in turn allowing for that increased render distance. The way LOD comes into play is instead of rendering all the blocks as a mesh, it instead lowers the quality of the world the farther from the player, I. E. a tree turns into a single pixel on the screen depending on distance, etc.
