An Iron Heart is a very classic questline in wynn that displays to us the creation of guard golems and how it's messed up and twisted, with Dr Urelix using the population of Olux to supply the- excuse me what???

Iron heart is a questline with great potential, but let me cover the logistical mistakes here, they do honestly really bring it down, the way we stumble into the quest is really good, with a malfunctioning golem, yet after this golem is beaten by us we are flung into part 2 completely disconnected from the first, with the detective asking us for help with an investigation and luckily enough, we just happen to have the correct remote to get into the factory since we stumbled into a malfunctioning golem, rendering the whole questline as dependant on our luck (let alone that urelix lets us roam in his house to investigate his SECRET LIFE while he is STANDING THERE [the puzzles in his house are lame too])

But now to the main issue i have with this quest is the premise, Dr Urelix uses the population of the dying town of Olux to supply the w h o l e w o r l d with fleshcrafted golems, more than 12 settlements with golems that break down after fighting and need to be repaired or replaced, and the way we stumble into the golem in AIH 1 means people can also buy them for their own needs, farmers can rent them, companies can buy them, and let alone the absurd way almuj uses them to protect the emerald maze.

All these massive settlements and companies and people making use of golems originated from a d y i n g t o w n that has been dying for years, decades and maybe even centuries because of the decay, if Olux has been dying for so long, there is simply no way enough villagers even existed for enough time in the history of Olux to supply even an eigth of the world of wynncraft, even to those that may say that Olux is dying because of fleshcrafting, it has never been displayed as a successful or bustling city.

There are many many more issues that probably arise from iron heart
(Urelix needing to already be doing fleshcrafting before villagers travel to wynn, but that would mean he's doing it with no purpose because theres no war to be fought for villagers, only arising as an issue after they travel to wynn)
(The caritats existing during this era, if citizens were missing even back then they would have done something out of their benevolence)
(the protests of villagers that would happen if they find out their own kin is being tortured and mindbroken to fight Wynn's war)
But my main one is the scalability of it.

And there is one very good solution, the Lexdale Penitentiary is RIGHT THERE, currently the biggest prision in Gavel and Wynn alike is used as a front for dullahan and his soul consumption (this is kind of a scrapped idea because dullahan raid/dungeon never happened, and honestly even more raids being locked behind ROL questline starts to be cheesy), so instead of having the warden be reanimated by dullahan or something (like that new item from world events imply) make her an accomplice in Urelixes plan for the greater good, make it a properly corrupt company or something turning prisioners into fleshcrafted golems, have the goventment know and secretly endorse these practices, thus turning our investigation with the detective into a very big journalism thing

Even crazier you could have Urelix be "influenced" by light, as the "moral ambiguity doesnt work on wynn" thread says, make light influence force urelix to fully believe in his greater good philosophy, making him kill endless villagers to fight corruption, not as himself, but pretty much as a person turned into a light emmisary only acting in Orphions will (keeping the lexdale prision theming for logic)

These are my thoughts on the Iron Heart questline

The lexdale penitentiary point is interesting, it’s always bothered me how many souls Dullahan needs to sit at home and do nothing

yeah the penitentiary makes a lot more sense than all of the world's guard golems being sourced from the small and Very Much Dying town of Olux. like you said, they already do all the weird soul stuff for Dullahan and i personally just can't really see him needing ALL of those souls you know? plus, it would be another great reason as to why they capture so many innocent civilians outside of "Dullahan needs more souls for whatever he's doing up there".

anyways, i don't think Olux being a source of villagers to make golems is necessarily a bad idea though. i liked what we learned in Shadowy Dealings where the mayor of Olux was desperate enough to sell off his townspeople's lives to pay for the guard golems' protection. i think the desperation aspect of that is very in line for Olux. i personally think it would be really interesting to see how another source of villager fodder might work outside of Olux and the penitentiary. maybe a major city like Cinfras or something? of course they wouldn't really need to sell off their own citizens to pay for guard golems but who's saying they're the ones doing anyways? we do know Cinfras has a bit of seedy underground so i don't think it's entirely unlikely for someone to be kidnapping for profit.

additionally, if golem production is so large that nearly every major town and city is using them, then it would only make sense that the golem operation is equally as large and spread throughout the world. maybe just throughout Gavel at the very least since it's the source of golems. perhaps the factory we visit near Olux is the headquarters of the whole operation? idk! it's something to speculate more on. i would personally love to see someone reimagine the AIH questline.
